Hi, looking for recommendations on blower cam for 03 Z06z. Will be purchasing A &A blower kit next week. Car has long tubes and full exhaust with no cats. Plan is supercharger, cam, meth injection, and supporting mods for around 650-700 rwhp.
Looking for a cam kit, with many new lifters , cam, push rods , springs and gonna do the truunion upgrade. Would like the same to have a nice chop to it but still make power goal. Car is manual , driven a couple times a month during summer so a little radical is ok. . What’s everyone running? Thanks
i'm running a donkey-dick LS9 cam in my little LS1... but it's also got some overhauled heads (ported 243s + 2.02/1.60 valve job + trunion bushings + springs). still drives pretty good but, as one should expect, it's ***** don't drop 'til 2000rpm... so expect to downshift for any throttle application unless you're on flat ground.
I can vouch that anything in the loose ballpark (not debating lobe design here) of that BTR 3 or the Arun Jam Cam (now gone forever) are absolutely easy to drive on the street and not an intimidation at all from behind the wheel unless you don't like 600+RW for some reason.

can't remember if bradc6 had a jam cam in his old centrifugal LS2 c6 (~700whp), but it and mine (the BTR PD stage3 at ~680whp) seem to drive fine on the street. once you get used to the power band change.

The absolute wildest power number I saw on one was a member here who has left. He had a V3Ti which was overspun and maxed out and was running methanol, I don't recall if E85 was the base fuel or not but common sense makes me want to say yes. With H/C he hit 1008 or 998 rw using a jam cam. Boost is always the answer eh?
Part of why I went turbo was the concept of boost/traction by gear and thinking that was the way to go. I still do. Only now I've been thinking why couldn't the same be done with a SC setup using the bov? Could have saved myself a ton of expense, time, and fab work with that realization.
that's true - there are now electronically-controlled one-way clutch fluid restrictors; i can't imagine why you wouldn't be able to control a centrifugal's BOV in the same manner as an electronic wastegate... shoot, even a PD like my TVS or an LSA could technically also control the internal bypass valve.
i know zip tying mine all the way open for full bypass (or wedging in a spacer to at least maintain a little bit) is a fantastic boost limiter... so if a caveman can rig that up, so can an electronics guru.
I'm interested in this topic as I'm considering the same thing. LS6, A and A Vortech, LT's, Meth and cam. I've searched this topic and keep being pointed back to Arun's Jam Cam too.
I understand that it is now out of production. But it seems to be excellent by everything I've read. Can BTR or anyone grind them anymore as a special order? Or is there no way to get that cam any longer, period?
If it's no longer available, to the OP's point, I'd be curious to see what everyone would suggest.
It's a good cam, but design has advanced in the last decade. BTR has spent a ton of time in the last few years playing with their spintron and perfecting new grinds. In some cases making more power with a smaller cam than traditional. Call a few cam vendors if you have questions.
I sourced my cam out from Brett at Landspeed. Told him what I wanted or was looking for (more mid range than higher rpm). Custom spec was 222/230 600/601 115+4.
Drives really great and picked up 75 rwtq (605/596) after the install. I was at 580/520 before the cam.
I'm using the Texas Speed Bald Eagle cam. Very easy to drive, I'm currently making 557hp at 7psi (was running into some fuel pressure issues so I will update when I have the car re tuned as I replaced the fuel filter).

This is one of the cams that I was considering. Does it have a decent lope/chop to it ? The other option I was wondering about would be the ECS Bigger Boost cam

Just called BTR and talked to them to see if they could grind a custom cam to the exact specs of the Jam Cam. They claimed they could but also recommend the BTR stage 2 supercharger cam. Claimed the core in this cam is much more updated with better design and newer technology. Claiming it out performed the jam cam. Also claimed it had a nice aggressive note to it. Anyone have any experience with this cam?
