My car makes max power at 5200 rpm, however, the torque continues to
rise steadily through redline (6500 rpm). I'm going to try shifting earlier
(say about 6000 rpm) to help reduce wheel spin and I'm thinking maybe
extend the life of the engine. I'ld be interested in the pro's & con's of such
a move and would like to hear from you guys who have been there and
done that. Thanks. :seeya
Shift points are normally set by the dyno. Your engine should continue to make power up to redline. The biggest advantage of shifting later is that the engine will be higher up in the torque curve on the next gear. The LS6 engine is designed to spin to 6500 safely. :seeya
