ok, i picked it up today, ed wright tuning with a very quick turn around. BUT IT STLL KNOCKS at 2000 rpm with light load and a quick mash of the pedal its there . when i went with the tech and his scanner i saw the kr bring the timming down but later it pings like crazy. do you guys run fuel higher than 93? thats the highest i can find. what about octane boosters? what happens when it gets hot ? it gets over 90 most of the summer in st. louis. i need more help!
Re: still knocking after ed wright programming! (VetterMan)
i will tomorrow, but on magna charger's site it says"should you hear your engine ping it is likely that something is wrong and you should not drive the vechile hard until the problem is corrected" i bought the extra warranty and i need 1500 miles before that starts. should i send it back again, or look for better gas?
Re: still knocking after ed wright programming! (jfk c5 ls1)
You need to have it looked at ASAP. Ed's tuning is right on the money for all ATI owners I know of using his program and I wouldn't expect any different for the magnusson. If you had a tuner put it on, they need to take a look for sure.
Re: still knocking after ed wright programming! (jfk c5 ls1)
so i ran it today and still had the same pinging. john at fastchips helped me get some numbers he needed together and my car is back at the dealer tonight. the cpm wil go back to oklahoma city for a second trip. its running lean so i hope it will be an easy fix for them, and finally get my car right.
Re: still knocking after ed wright programming! (jfk c5 ls1)
Why are you sending the cpm back to Oklahoma City? That could be your problem. Ed Wright is in Tulsa, Oklahoma And you are suppose to send your ECM.
I am sorry …… I am sorry ……. I had to do it. :jester
Ed Wright will take car of you. It usually takes two or three times to get it perfect. He tunes your care to the edge. If all want is a mild program I am sure he could hook you up. That mass air could be changing some of the programming parameters.
If I were you I would run a TR6 plug. They come pregaped so just put them in. Your plugs need to be no more that 8k miles and gaped to 35.
:chevy
Re: still knocking after ed wright programming! (king_pin)
I think I noticed this on my car today, I was driving down the freeway at 60 and right around 2000 rpm when I lightly touched the gas peddle I heard some pinging, but as soon as the car down shifted out of overdrive the pinging stopped and the car accelerated. This only lasted for about 2 seconds if it was that long and I don't consider this a problem just a lag as the tranny is shifting.
If this is the problem that you are having I'm not sure if anything can be done about it, I mean it's not really detonating just a slight lag.
I'd also have to agree with Kingpin, you can't get a fine tune through the mail, your gonna have to take your car in.
Re: still knocking after ed wright programming! (runamuk)
i agree they- fastchips- is going to try to adjust the fuel trims again and ill have it back next week. that should do it, but if not im going to make arrangements to get the car to them. its about 6 hours away so its not too bad. hopefully the tweeking will do it though
