I am about to have a blower installed. If I don't run in the 117-120 range, I will be disappointed. That being said, urslooow has good times with the same SC I will have installed.
urslooow, it seems to me that everyone says there are no SC'd cars out there putting up good numbers? If you get into the 11's that sounds pretty good to me. What tires were you running?
The best I ran that day was 12.7 with a trap speed of 108 but I had traction control turned on and thats the only way I could get traction, there was another car there that had the Magnacharger and an automatic tranny like me but he had better tires than my Goodyear runflats and I watched him run 12.1 (he may have done better when I wasn't watching).
There is no doubt in my mind for drag racing and all things being equal the ATI cars will outrun the Magnacharger cars all day simply because they produce more boost, but I bought the Magnacharger mainly for the looks and sound
runamuk,
Have you had your car dynotuned?
If not, please do. You will spend many trips to the track trying to tune that puppy in, let alone fighting the circumstances------> weather, traction, driving ability, etc.
With my Powerdyne, in one night, just messing with fuel psi and tire psi, I had managed to drop 0.50 sec off my ET and added 3 mph!
Superchargers aren't "bolt-on and go" mods, you know.
Just ran a new personal best 11.33 @ 122, 60 ft time 1.64sec. using BFG 315/17/35 DR's. really hooking up. Launched at 1800-2200, with 3/4 pedal. Smoked a few of the vipers there (at Vette Viper f-body shootout Feb 9). I'm really proud to have taken 1st in the SC class!
thanks, Dave C5. I felt pretty good. I know there's always a faster vette out there. There was a 427 tt from lingenfelter, dyno 650 rwhp, but he was on street tires and was vanquished quite easily, he only ran a 12.09 best. even with a ginger start he should've been in the high 11's. But he'll learn he was a real nice guy as were most of the people there. The Cartek boys' z06's were really fast. They dominated the heads and cam class. They say they have stock cid, most were on et's with 1.45sec 60 ft times, I assume some had upped their gears. I was very impressed by their cars!
Well I hate to say it but if your getting only a 12.7 and seeing another car running a 12.1 with a magnacharger somethings definately wrong. Who installed and tuned these cars? I would disconnect the belts cause their not doing anything but wasting HP as they run.
He said he had the traction control on. That would pretty much explain it. The TC was probably cutting in all the way down the track. Runamuk, there is a better way. Just practice. Leaving the traction control on is not a good way to get good times. Turn that thing off. Just work on your throttle technique and you will get it. I don't kow if you have an MN6 or A4, but if A4 a Torque converter would do wonders. Don't get down on your ride until you have had time to get her dialed in. You'll get it. And have fun doing it.
