Default too much boost??

has anyone heard of the magnuson producing too much ( 10 lbs) boost using the stock gm pulley? my installer told me today that is what my s/c has been making, and that is why im having the knock problems. so now its going to get a new pulley and then go to tulsa for the dyno tune. this sure seems to take a long time to get it right.

That seems really odd for a mag. I would guess that something is wrong or it is not really making 10psi.

No way is it making 10 lbs of boost. The stock pulley won't spin it fast enough to do it, and even if you have a pulley that could spin it that fast, you'd make a lot more heat than power. Does your installer have experiece with forced induction? If not, I'd get the car out of there quick before he does damage to the engine. You can't be that far from Lingenfelter, just take the car there and get it right.

they did reduce the timing, and found no kr below 2500 rpm. i just got my boost guage so its not installed but thats what they told me today- 10 lbs. the stock pulley is 3.5 in, and he says 4.5 is what it will take.

That's a big difference, your going to lose a lot of power. If that doesn't get rid of your pinging problem, good luck.

They are wrong. There is no other way to say it. No one else has had the problem you are talking about. Where are they tapping into to get the boost reading? The pulley supplied with the kit WILL NOTmake 10 lbs of boost, no how, no way. Take your car somewhere who has experience with this type of work. Quickly...
