Title says it all, which one is an overall better option? I have been all over the place on what to do to the car this year, my goal is to get into the !0's. I think I have finally decided to go with a blower, with the noise and the under hood looks it's also a little more showy. Please chime in and let me know what you think. Bob
I chose Vortech, I had an early Vortech supercharger kit that was done by PTC it never gave me problems. I read all the threads here before making my final decision, I also talked to my tuner and the ATI has/had way too many issues. The Vortech is a really great trouble free kit that will give you 525-550 RWHP (Z06) with just headers and an intake. (with a conservative tune). Over 600RWHP if you go with the smaller pulley. This choice was my choice, I am not saying it was the right choice, but it is the choice that made me most comfortable. My Z06 will be done as early as today. Will post results this week.
From an installers point of view I would go with the ATI.. Stock kit for stock kit the Vortech will be a much better choice as the stock ATI kit really sucks.. We have been doing various tests with the ATI and have came a long way in a year. The Vortech is just way too crammed in the engine compartment. The engineering of the kit was well thought out and I really like the belt wrap but there are so many things in the kit that could be a problem. Hoses and piping are just way to close to things. Forget about tring to change the main belt or the cog belt.. Thats a project in itself. The kit drives very well and makes nice power but for me the ATI is the better choice. Its a whole lot simpler then the Vortech..
Go, ATI. . .they had more problems because they were the first to introduce the C5 blower. The ATI is capable of being upgraded far past the other options.
For what it's worth, I am having my ATI installed right now. The one issue that seems to be persistant is the idler pulley problem. They have a fix for the problem and I received my new pulleys this past week. When you order, make sure that they include the upgraded idler pulleys.

Really. When did they come out with the C5 blower, and if they were first, why still the problems, they have had ample time to fix things. I had a Vortech (PTC) on my 2000 Vert that was installed late 1999. Were they out before that? If so, like I said they have had years to perfect it, why havn't they.
I chose Vortech because I drag race and cooling is critical with the V-2 I can run my Be-Cool radiator in its stock location. My car with the SC has been on the street for over a week and everything runs perfect. The belts show no signs of fraying, the motor runs at 180 deg., and I make about 7.5 lbs. of boost at 6,000 RPM. If you want to get into the 10's buy a stroker motor and a shot of NOS.. S/C's are not a good way to go fast on the 1/4 mile... at least for now anyway...
