Default Fuel Pressure Question

I've noticed that my fuel pressure is dropping to 54psi under boost. According to my gauge it is normally right around 58psi.

Is this enough of a drop to be concerned about? Is this something that a boost-a-pump can handle or should I just go ahead and upgrade the fuel pump?

Yes, I'd be concerned.
I'd start with the BAP.

Yes, you will need to upgrade the fuel pump. I am running an Aeromotive pump and controller. It runs at 65 psi at all times...

Yes you should be concerned,it will allow your car to run lean at WOT.
The Kenne-Bell Boost-a-Pump fixed it for me.

To answer the initial question, although something worth upgrading to be safe, IMHO I would not be too concerned if the pressure builds its way back up. The bigger concern is a pressure that continues to drop as the rpms and boost build.

Question for you guys running a BAP, Do you still see a pressure drop under initial boost? I have found this difficult to eliminate with the regulator sitting way back at the fuel sender. Also, can you actually adjust fuel pressure with the BAP controls?

Thanks for all of the responses.

My pressure is dropping to 54 and staying there under boost. That may help to explain why I am still seeing 2-4 degrees of knock retard above 4000 rpm even with a lot of timing already pulled out at the upper rpms.

How difficult of a job is it to swap the fuel pump out on a C5?
