After getting blown away by a Toyota Supra TT in my boner stock MN6 LS1 98 coupe I'm feelin the need for more power. Anyway, my car is my daily driver so I need it to be reliable. I know of the 3 S/C kits. Vortech I'm most familiar with as my previous car had one available that I looked into but never bought. ATI claims to be very reliable. And the Magnuson I probbly wouldnt consider cause of the hood. I'm not sure what the turbo options are either.
Whats the most upgradeable for later down the road should I decide to build a motor?
Anyway presently I'm not really interested in doing a cam job, so I'd want it to be bolt on to a stock LS1 as easy as possible. I dont like lumpy idles.
I would probbly run an J&S Electronic Safeguard unit.
Don't feel bad... there are some pretty sick Supra's running around...
We tend to lean towards the ATI kit but Vortech is also a great kit worth considering. Both kits can have pulley swaps done to increase boost when a motor is in place to handle it. I recommend long tube headers if you don't have them already.
Keep an eye on our (TTi) Twin Turbo kits as the install base increases.
Best of Luck :)

Eric , i had to laugh at your story..Because it was VERY similiar to mine..Only difference is I was spanked by a Supercharged Saleen Mustang.
That day i swore I would never let another FORD embarass me again :)

Then you better pick your races wisely, because there are some serious Mustangs out there.
ericdwong: Since you are starting from scratch I would go with a turbosystem, Turbo Technology makes a affordable twin turbo kit and a turbo is definitely the best power adder you can buy, and its easy to upgrade for future endeavors..
:iagree: There are some SICK fast Mustangs. However, unless they have dumped some very serious cash into the chassis and done something to put the PIG on a diet, it will be difficult for a Mustang to keep up. :yesnod:
That being said, if they are squirtin', you might be hurtin'!
I have read about one of the new '03 Cobras (Nitrous Pete) running in the 9's.
However, once the Vette is running FI, there are very few cars that can keep up. :D :D
Try a Vortech-aftercooled pkg; stock hood, smooth idle, progressive boost curve, and quiet operation make for stealthy drama-free power. Check the aftercooler water pump operation periodically. Get an '01+ intake. Get a bigger/ported TB to reduce pressure drop to the manifold. Get better wires and high quality plugs gapped to ~ 0.035". Get higher flow cats (after you took care of tuning and your car was trouble-free/no ignition misses for a few weeks). After all is said and done you should pull easily from BPU'd Supras and be neck-neck with pump gas'd small to medium sized single turbo Supras running off-road downpipes. You should trap around 125 mph.
If you want more, add 1.8:1 roller rockers, better pushrods, and stronger valvesprings and set the rev limiter at 6700 rpm and make sure to back off timing a good bit after 6200 rpm as boost is rising beyond the safe mark for 10.1:1 CR. A high rev limiter is for the purpose of landing you in the real sweet spot of the powerband after an upshift for centrifugally S/C'd setups. My dart throw guess is you should trap near 130 mph in good air.
If you want more, think about doing a full engine buildup since your 1998 may be nearing borderline mileage for a power adder in a year or two.
