Had a Pro Charger installed by ARE last April...We are running 8lbs of boost with TPIS headers...I have a problem [see graph] at 5400-5800 RPMs.It drops, but recovers at 5800!!..Wade has had me on the Dyno 3 different times and been very helpful trying to find the problem....As yet no solution... Any help would be really appreciated.. We do not believe it is a belt problem.. http://temp.corvetteforum.net/c5/96lt4//dynograph.jpg
You may have corrupt files on your cars computer. Try reflashing the computer with latest GM updates... then reload programming for your S/C application back on the computer.
It looks like the boost is falling off...You said it is not the belt slipping..but that is what it appears to be...maybe a BOV leaking??? The only other thing I could think of is that maybe you are getting some KR and or you are going into a reduced power mode...it almost looks like you are hitting the rev limiter the way it shuts down on the graph. Thats the limit of my knowledge..maybe somebody else has something different.
We looked at KR but there was none..Timing was right on , AF ratios where good...Would the BOV cause that, anyone know? CAN"T GO TO TRACK till i get this sorted out :banghead: :cuss :nonod:  :(
Let me see the BOV is open when in vacuum (vacuum pulls the springloaded plunger in which opens the valve)...when the vacuum drops the spring loaded plunger snaps closed and the air goes to the motor instead of being bypassed through the valve...if for some reason somehow it is being opened it could cause something similar to what is depicted on your graph....it takes 15 mins to replace the ATI BOV...if there is another one in the shop have them throw it on real quick and see if it fixes the problem.
Or it could be a spike with the PCM and error or gliche as Steve suggested....maybe you are losing all the timing at the point on the graph for that rpm range and then it comes back on when above that rpm range....it reminds me more of the belt slipping...but usually if the belt slips..the graph continually drops off not picks back up at higher RPM's...
I know ARE won't go near any ATI stuff anymore....I will have to call ATI and get them to ship one, its worth a try...Maybe someone would know of a better unit out there? You are right about the slippage, if its slipping the graph will drop off and it will not recover...It is definatelly a strange one
Does it look like boost is falling off or not getting to 7-8lbs. Replaced my BOV recently cause boost was not getting above 4.5 lbs. Repalced with a new BOV and picked up over 2 lbs of boost.
I am not a particular fan of the quality of the ATI BOV, supposedly ATI had a better one than the earlier ones. I would recommend and this is from least expensive to most expensive.
Vortec BOV
Blitz BOV
HKS Bov
See if Andy @ A&A has a spare stock ATI BOV maybe he will just charge you shipping for one, you can throw it on, if it fixes it you can keep it or buy a more expensive one. If it does not then you will know to trouble shoot esle where for the problem.
Thanks for the suggestion..I will call Andy and at least start there...It really runs like hard, but there is a noticable miss at 5400...Also i don't want to break it...If anyone else has any ideas , please chime in
