Default Nitrous wiring help...!!

Well, got the whole system wired up and it don't work :(

A question, does the red wire from the relay and the red wire from the MSD window switch both attach to the same prong on the back of a NX ash tray switch? I believe it's the #1 prong. And the 12 volt keyed is on the #2 prong, then the ground on #7. Is that correct???

I can't figure out why the system won't work...please help!

BTW, it's a NOS 5177 dry kit.

Your relay should have 4 wires
12v+ (red)
ground (black)
12v in (green)
12v out (white)

the red wire from a relay is the 12v +. This goes to your power source preferably the battery.
on the back of you nx switch, should have a 12v in (switched in most cases) & a 12v out. This 12v out should goto your WOT switch. Then that 12v out should goto to in on the relay. Then the out from the relay should goto your solenoids positive. Send me a PM with your number and I'll call you if you cant figure it out.

Now you have me really confused! The relay has an orange wire (connected to the battery), a blue wire (connected to 2 wires from the solenoids, a green wire (connects to one prong on the WOT switch), and a red wire (connected to the arming switch).

So I have the green wire from the relay to one prong on the WOT switch, and I have the yellow wire from the MSD going to the other prong. Are you saying I need a red wire to go to the WOT switch???

Here is the diagram I followed, I just don't understand how to wire the NX ashtray switch....this diagram just has a normal switch.

different relays have differnet color wires. The concept is the same though.

From you diagram I can see a problem though

1. From the switch it should go 12v to the switch to the microswitch to the relay to solenoids.

2. your MSD should supply the GROUND to the solenoids. If you use it as a 12v switch it will prematurely burn out. I would wire the MSD standalone in case you ever want to remove it.

3. Remove your FPSS. It is a PIA to calibrate and will add unnecessary complexity to your set up. Follow the KISS principle.

If you have any questions please PM me with your phone number and I will call you and walk you through it.

From his picture, I don't believe the FPSS rated to take 40 amps? Shouldn't the FPSS be in line with the coil of the relay if he is going to use it? This may be his problem if it fried when the hook was first tried.

yes you are correct ... all the safety devices should be in parallel before the relay.

I'm not quite sure what you mean by "in parrallel."

Glen, I PM'd you my number....I might need to call you tomorrow when I try to figure this wiring out!

Shouldn't all safety be in series? All must close their circuits to complete the ground for the "trigger side" (small red white wires low amp load) of the solinoid relay unit (WOT, MSD, FPSS). The big black and big green are the solinoid Hi amp power supply. Big Black goes to battery, Big green goes to one side of each solinoid (Not Purge). The other side of each solinoid goes to body ground.
I guess the first step is to know what all the safety's are.
I'm working on a enhanced circuit add on (a little black box) for the FPSS for Wet systems so it may be used "down" stream from the Fuel Solinoid for rock solid protection. Will post a diagram and materials for the DIYS'r.

Well, I found the problem. I had the wires on the NX switch mixed up. When I turned on the bottle heater, it actually activated the system...and vise versa. All fixed now...and it hauls some serious butt. Wired it up according to the diagram I posted and it works flawlessly. I got that diagram from LS1.com and they all use it, so I guess I should be OK.

glad you got it wired. I typed parallel, but ment series.... I would still rewire that system. There are some potential flaws in the diagram. just my .02. I am not saying that theirs is wrong, its just not how NX or I do it.
