Forged bottom ends?
Newbie here looking to buy a C5 vette in the near future. Having a background with turbocharged imports I am a firm believer of forced induction, so I will be getting a SC or turbocharger kit for my vette. However the consensus seems to be that 5-7psi is the max boost one can reliably run on a stock bottom end. I looked around the web for forged rotating assemblies with boost friendly CR, and saw offerings anywhere from $1500 to $3000 and up. Does anybody have experience on Eagle or Scat assemblies, or any other brands you would recommend? How much more punishment can these assemblies typically take compared to stock bottom end? Are there any other weak points in LS1/LS6 engine that I should be aware of as far as forced induction is concerned? Thanks!
The weak spot seems to be piston #7. Tends to go lean and make a mess.
Crank is good to about 700 RWHP, however the rod bolts are only good to 600 RWHP...
