Default Which Boost Controller for Twin Turbo's

I am considering upgrading my current boost controller to one of the new Blitz Digital units that costs around $500.00.
Currently I experience a little boost creep somewhere around 1/2 to 3/4 of a pound under WOT, I also have noticed about a 1 pound spike at initial take off. I don't really have any turbo lag at all because of the twin setup so I don't think there will be any benefit in speeding up the spool time of the turbo's.

My goals in doing this mod are as follows:

1. I want to be able to better control the boost creep and eliminate the initial boost spiking at take off.
2. I want the option of being able to adjust the amount of boost I am making depending on the driving circumstances. I am looking at running around 10 pounds max but don't think this is necessary all the time. The boost controller I am looking at will allow me to choose between multiple settings. This will allow me to run a lower boost level and hopefully save a little wear and tear on the motor.

My questions are as follows:

1. Does anyone have experience with the Blitz digital unit and is it a good unit for a twin turbo setup, will it resolve my creep and spike issues.
2. Is it possible to run various boost levels depending on the driving circumstances.
3. Does anyone have the Blitz unit and what was degree of difficulty to install and was retuning the car on the Dyno required.
Am I on the right track here, your comments are appreciated, and I currently have a Blitz mechanical unit with a screw that you turn to bleed off pressure.

Thanks

Mike,

We have had a fair experience in watching the import scene via Payne technologies renting our Dyne for testing. The Blitz,Greddy and AVRC (Apexi) units will all perform similarly. The resolution and reaction times of all three units are hard to dial in easily. EarlH can tesitify to that one :).
It boil down to packaging and personal taste at that level. I should have an Apexi unit at the shop in a week or so to see how it packages. I was looking to put it in the ashtray..oh..poop..you have you sat radio in that location..

Will let ya know..

Check with Sack Rat TT on the blitz - he just got the latest amnd has had it for about 3-4 weeks.

I'm kind of leaning towards an HKS controller myself. Pehaps by the end of the year, I'll be getting 4 more lbs of boost along with an HKS Controller.

Phil,

Ummm, I already cleared out my center console, want to keep it somewhere where I won't be able to get at it without just a little forethought. I'll be seeing you next week and want to have the controller installed before we put the car on the dyne for tuning after all is done. Oh yeah pulled a 1.79 60' on Saturday and was still spinning the slicks almost all the way through 1st, with a little practice a low 1.7, high 1.6 60' will be possible ,

I am having to much fun, this just can't be legal :leaving:.

Thanks again for everything and I'll see you a week from Tuesday, hopefully with a new boost controller installed.

Mike

So far so good with the Blitz. It uses a dual-solenoid controller rather than a single. It allows a MAX boost LIMITER to be set and a BUZZER to give aural alerts at any boost level. Limiter and buzzer can be set seperately. It can be set to read PSI, kg/cm2, kpa, or BAR. Dyno tuning needed to determine where to start with the controller settings and using a Tech2 watch for KR etc and to be sure your PCM is programed for additional fuel needed and to monitor fuel/air. Controller uses 0-100 UNITS that do not relate to psi. ie, on my car 25 units gives about 9psi and 35 units gives 11psi which is my max safe limit on 93 octane pump gas. GAIN is another seting and on TT's they recomment from 0-15% maximum. GAIN basically sets response time and it is my understanding if set too high could cause spikes. It also goes from 0 to 100%. My 9psi setting uses gain of 10% and my 11psi setting uses gain of 5% to be conservative. Actully I have four boost settings or channels available through the controller and a fifth if I turn the controller OFF and go to my default boost level set by LPE on day one a year ago. John Page here at 21st century musclecars and I wanted to try a different boost controller than the one he ran one yr. ago in his TT used in the tuner shootout featured in Car & Driver mag. I am still tweeking and learning about the Blitz and to be honest I do not have experience with other makes. I am reserving the last two chanels/settings for race fuel only and 50/50 pump gas and race fuel. Hope this helps and keep us posted.

Hello guys.. 1st post here so I thought I would try and make it usefull.

I dont have a TT c5 or even a C5 yet but hope too within a yr or 2..

But I do have a twin turbo stealth and use the Blitz SBC-ID boost controller.. not sure if thats the one you are talking about but I love mine.. Very nice features..Tells you the boost right on the unit.. Has many safety features and has worked well for me..

Just thought I would post experience on that model for some feedback for you..

Also I couldnt imagine a TT vette.. Wow.. Good luck
