Well this little gizmo is pretty cool. It took about 3 hours to install and appears to work very well, holds set boost within 2-3 tenths of a pound and has all but eliminated any spikes. The head unit is very small and can be opertated with one hand, Display is clear and easy to read even with my crappy vision. As for ease of operation my 5 year old could work this thing while chewing gum at the same time. We will be putting the unit to the test next week when I get on the Dyno and Turn Up the Boost ( oh yeah ). I'll keep everyone posted on the performance at higher boost levels but so far this gadget is looking like a winner.
Still haven't made up my mind on the new HKS with the newer computer technoloy or the blitz. But its nice to know that either one will be a good choice.
Plenty of available boost presets etc with the Blitz. I am happy with mine so far. I mounted the controller near the battery to shorten the runs to the turbo's and the display unit in the ashtray. Where did you install your controller and display unit? Good luck
I had the Blitz controller installed by Cerra in my car. I loved the unit, It was VERY easy to use and looked VERY kool. I had it mounted in my ashtray compartment. :yesnod: But, I had a ton of problems with boost spikes, So to remain safe I had the unit removed and just went with the wastegate setting. I know LPE will only use HKS unit in any of there turbo cars. I do know Earl H was having some problems also with his Blitz controller. I am not sure if it was not the right fit for our single turbo setup or if it was the shoty work of Cerra Racing. :cuss :cuss :cuss
21st Cenltury is now installing the Blitz on their LPE cars. I think the spikes may have to do with how it is installed. I have been playing with mine now for a few days, high boost, low boost, moving the gain up and down. No spikes at all and I have had the gain up to 20, and it holds dialed in boost steady as a rock. From what I have been told it is imparitive to have the solenoid controller boost line in front of the throttle body and the controller line after, this is how mine is installed and it works great. Oh yeah the other thing is I am only using the manual mode, it works in auto mode but manual gives you alot more control on how fast you want the boost to come up.
Right now I am showing 8# at the controller and 7 at the pillar gauge and it holds it solid all the way to 5800 - 5900 rpm at which time the A4 up shifts which is o.k. because after 5900rpm I start really feeling power fading. I have noticed that with the new boost controller and the gain at 15 the shift from 2nd into 3rd is alot more solid than it was before and boost doesn't drop and come back up like it used to between shifts. With the gain set at 20 I can break the back end loose shifting from 2nd into third at WOT and boost is still holding solid. I don't like the gain at 20 because the turbo's come up so damn fast from a stop or slow roll your laying rubber all over the place at less than 1/2 throttle.
I will be having some work done to lower compression and allow the engine to breath alot better in the next three weeks this will allow me to crank the boost up to around 10-12# and also make good power all the way to 6200 + rpm. I will let you know how the controller works at these higher levels. I know Sack Rat TT has the same controller as mine and is running 11.5# all the time right now, maybe he can chime in and let us know how his boost is holding at 6000rpm also. My guess is it's solid just like mine.
It will be really interesting to see if you can hold 10-12lbs of boost to 5900 rpms. Please keep us posted.
I can not speak for ZILLA but my redline is at 6500 on my forged, lowered CR motor and boost stays rock solid to redline using pump gas and limiting boost to 11.5psi. This is also true at 14.5 psi using race fuel. Boost is there all the way to redline. The 14.5 boost levels were on the dynojet and was during boost controller and PCM tuning at 21st Century when they installed the Blitz. I have been too cheap to buy race fuel since then until I am comfortable with pump gas presets first then I will tweek a little more with race fuel. Have not been to the track as yet.
