First of all thanks, thanks, thanks, George, you are the man!!
Went to the track yesterday borrowing a set of BFG Drag Radials I finally got traction.
At 6-7# of boost here were my 3 best times.
11.85 @ 115.68 mph, first pass of the day still a little warm out.
11.90 @ 116.24 mph, third or fourth pass started to cool off a bit spun a little at the line
Drum roll Please, Last run of the night, temps in the 60's, heated up the tires really good ( sorry George ) I owe ya big.
11.69 @ 118.99 with a 1.784 60'
Its amazing what a little traction can do.
Tune in the week of September 22nd same Zilla Time Same Zilla channel for more rubber burning excitement after the mad scientists at Detroit Speedworks complete phase II.
Dam thats smokin..Since when do you have permission to beat the shop car :)
Phil
for some reason I think my victory over the shop car will be short lived, I know you guys are up to something diabolical over there your not letting me in on. Somehow I will find out the master plan :leaving:
Nice #s. I'm planning on heading to the track next Wednesday with my news set of BFG drag radials. I can't wait to see what a little traction will get me.
I hear you really need to heat up those BFGs. You just gave me a nice goal to shoot for. I think I can beat it.
How much difference in time did those BFGs help, and what size are they? I'm trying to decide what to try with my ride. Thanks. :seeya
They helped alot, when I heated them up real good very minimal whell spin when launching. Before I would smoke the tires all the way through 3rd gear if I just hammered it. When comparing them to street tires with the tq I am putting down traction is like night and day off the line. I am sold and will be getting my own set as soon as possible, just looking for a deal on a set of rear wheels right now. Size is 295/35/18
Hey Mikey, well done (not my tires), I spoke to Gerry at Discount, he found another set of '02 "Z" take offs, 165.00 ea. Should I tell him to go ahead with them, he's got tires in stock.
See you when you get back from Texas.
George "TORXILA" Gray
DSW-Phil, I need Mikey to grind those puppys down--smoooooth, right now they're not enough for me. Waiting on ET streets, yah, I know, tooth fairy yadadah yadadah!
GG
Tell Gerry I want a set of rears with the same tires as yours 295/35/18 I belive this is right or just give me Gerrys phone # and I will call him. Texas was great as I expected it would be. Just makes me think what it would be like to be able to use the car 12 months out of the year, ahhh just dreaming again.
