I am looking for some advice. I have a Z06 with a single turbo. It is going to FLP on Monday for a single I/C, Y pipe mod. stingers, gauges, and a dyno tune.
My engine is stock so I am limited to a max of 7lb of boost. Is it worth it to look at 6.0 heads and a blower cam to be able to up the boost and HP?
What would the CR be ? (apox.)
Or should I just have fun with it and save for a new engine in the future. Thanks for the help.
Check my for sale thread, complete forged bottom end motor for $6500. Sell you LS6 motor for ~$2000, should go quick, the thing end up costing you about the same as H&C.
You can run 12lbs boost safely w/ this setup, 600+ easy if the turbo can support it.
Gary, going to the 6.0L heads will lower your compression ratio. I think it will take you down to about 9.8:1 or so (probably not 100% accurate but close). However, lowering your static CR will also lower your hp (all else being equal), so you'll have to up the boost some to make up the power. Doing a good port job and bigger valves will also help some. But, your real issue is the stock block (pistons and rods). You can make more power, but understand that you take on more risk (hurting the motor) as you increase power. Even going to forged won't guarantee against failure. Oh yeah...I almost forgot and this is one of the least glamorous but one of the most important mod, supporting fuel system (Racetronix pump, booster pump, larger injectors).
Oh, it doesn't sound like that mod fever medicine is working, better take a larger dose.
Okay........................stop that right NOW!!!!

I will be in Shaumburg on oct. 4th for the 422 swap.
Trying to resist... It's an exercise in futility my friend. :nonod: :D You know you gonna give in, the pressure is mounting... 600+hp just waiting to shove you back in your seat, your eyeball pushed to the back of your skull, you strain to stay conscious from the intense G-force. :jester
Damn, did I scare ya ?

Wish I had the cash right now...that's a great deal. :cry :cry
IMO, you should look at forging the bottom end before the heads and cam.
I really think I am going to stay with what I have for now. If I can get 500-525 rwh. that will be enough for now. the car is mainly for the street. :seeya
