Hi Brent,

We specialize in Vortech systems, so I'll point out some of the things the Vortech system/kit for the 2001 Corvette includes and some of the differentiators between it and the ATI system.

It's been designed, built, and tested as a complete system to be used with your stock heads, cam, and internals and includes tuning by Vortech *

The Vortech system will fit under your stock hood.

The Vortech unit is a centrifugal supercharger.

It utilizes the V-2 SQ Series SC-Trim supercharger and the air-water type aftercooler system. This kit is designed for 7lbs of boost. In addition to the air-water aftercooler, we feel that another nice differentiator between the Vortech centrifugal supercharger and the ATI unit is the fact that the Vortech unit taps into your engine's oil system. This maintenance-free lubrication system uses engine oil that is pre-filtered and injected directly onto the drive gears. Engine oil allows quicker warm-up, excellent reliability and superior cooling. Plus, it's continuously filtered and routinely changed (as part of your normal engine oil maintenance).

Quality Features

* Vortech gear-driven supercharger with SQ Technology provides nearly silent operation with unmatched reliability

* Technologically advanced, high-efficiency impeller and housing design developed in Vortech's supercharger test cell

* Fuel system upgrades includes all components required for safe, dependable operation on today's engines

* Oil feed and oil drain assemblies deliver the best possible lubrication and cooling for the supercharger, even under sustained boost conditions

* Inlet and discharge duct connections utilize heat resistant silicon sleeves and premium quality stainless steel clamps

* OEM-type cast aluminum mounting bracketry for "factory installed" appearance and rigidity

* Supercharger drive system includes all the necessary belts, pulleys and tensioner

* Integrated air-to-water, dual-pass charge cooler configuration allows for additional horsepower gains and features a sealed, maintenance-free design

* Compatible with factory OBD II engine management systems

* Vortech 3-year limited warranty

* Emissions legal in all 50 states

Fuel Management: High-Capacity Fuel Injectors and Hand-Held ECM Re-Programmer CARB EO #D-213-19

* The tuning included is NOT generic. It is specific for the model year, engine, and Corvette application. This has been throrougly designed, implemented, tested, and optimized by Vortech as a complete system. With a larger throttle body, you may wish to have more specific tuning done by an experienced tuner.

First, do you want a showstopper that has good performance (Mag) or do you want a ground pounder that looks nice under the hood. (Vortech, ATI)
If you choose ground pounder, do a search on the subject and see what your local tuner likes. I went with a Vortech because I wanted big hp compared to the mag. I chose the Vortech over the ATI on my tuners recommondation. Other tuners may vary. :D

:iagree: :yesnod: I went with ATI for the same reason...and the fact that I didn't like tapping the engine oil pan. If you want performance then ATI and Vortech are the way to go. The new intercooled Mag might be an equal, though. We'll have to see.

I installed my own Vortech and have been very happy with it.It is quite a well'
thought out kit and does require a lot of hard work to install. Alot of tuners
will advise against it for that reason. Keep knocking on doors until you find
someone who is not put off by it and they will give you some good unbiased
information to help with your choice.

You'll get lots of debate on this. If you can be a little patient, you might benefit from waiting several months. Magnuson is soon to release an intercooled version of its supercharger kit, and that might make it more attractive than before. Current info is that it'll raise the price about $1k, but it might also raise the horsepower considerably. Anyhow, once it's out and on some member cars, there hopefully will be some honest assessments of how it performs. :seeya

I drag & street race my car. I went to a tuner about 5 miles from my home & asked them for a installed price on the Magnuson. After answering a series of questions about how I was going to use the car, they said I would not be at all happy with the Magnuson (said it would cause a over-heating problem) and that I would get better performance from a Vortech. Had to drive about 30 miles to the closest tuner that installs Vortech and ended up buying one. The same kit mentioned above. My dyno went from 285 to 410rwhp. (Have auto trans.) My 1/4 mile went from 13.86 @ 102.04 to 12.25 @ 115.53. Now I am shopping from some tires that will keep it hooked up although doing 180's is fun. Gook Luck and have fun with it.

I couldn't agree more, BTW the Magnuson will not cause overheating problems.
