Looking for turbo headers, front mounted for project..
Not quite a Corvette matter but close enough. I am building a 62 Nova Pro Street car that is going to be powered by an all bore 388 twin turbo LS1 engine. I had planned on fabricating the headers from scratch but wanted to explore some other options before I go through the motions.
I am looking for a set of 1 3/4" primary's and want to mount the turbos in front and on top. I saw the setup that Jim Hall has for the C5 which is extremely impressive but $ 4,000 is a bit too much for this project!!
Does anyone know of another company that has a set of headers that fit my requirements? Space is no where near as big of an issue with this project as with an F-body of C5 so there might be some hope!
Worse comes to worse I'll just break out the TIG welder and buy some 304 SS and go at it.

JMO,
If you are doing an old school project, don't base the motor on an LS1 if you want to go with twins. You can build a SBC with trick heads and twins for ALOT cheaper than an LS1 and you can go with crazy amounts of boost if you want too. People are still figuring out LS1 FI. SBC FI is way more advanced and pretty much every single part out there is cheaper if you do break something.
Gale Banks is getting back into the high performance SBC arena and he is going to have staged packages between 800,1200 and 1600 HP!!!!! Bang for the buck you can't beat a standard SBC. .02c

Appreciate your OP but I'm sticking with the LS1 engine. I own a high performance fuel injection business so I am not intimidated by these engines for this application.
Most people who are using twin turbo LS1 setups are using them in F-bodies or C5's. Space is limited to do it properly and most don't switch over to a FAST or GEN7 fuel management system. As far as durability, a properly built GEN3 motor can make LOTS of reliable power.
Finally a GEN 3 motor in a 62 Nova is a slick setup and different from the traditional small block. I am looking forward to the challenge! I'll pay the bill I want what I want!

Since packaging space is not going to be a big issue in that car, give Stainless Steel Works a call, they have a set of SBC turbo headers that they will be willing to customize for an LS1. Keep in mind that they is no way they will fit a C5!
Re: Looking for turbo headers, front mounted for project.. (MikeBrock)
Decided it was not worth dealing with some of these cocky manufactures of the turbo kits and will fabricate the headers myself. I checked out Harlans site and he had some great pictures of his fabrication methods and layouts. I also checked out the website for Burns Stainless Steel and found all the high quality S/S I will need including a 4 into 1 merge collector.

I have a set of a stainless flanges that were water cut. They are 3/8" thick. I'd sell them to you if you wanted. They were for a similar project that I don't have time for. Thanks, Andy

I spoke to the guys at Burns Stainless steel in CA. They are going to supply me the straight and bends needed to fabricate these headers from scratch using 321 stainless. They also will fabricate the 4 into 1 merge collector with the attachment flange for a T3/T4 unit.
I will need a set of flanges but they need to be 321. If they are give me IM.
I have been fine tuning my SS TIG welding and are ready to go!
