Default Clutch

I plan on getting a 6-7psi SC or TC kit and am wondering if I will need a new clutch or will the stock one last a while and not slip?

Vega-You might get away keeping your clutch but not for very long. No power shifts or bonzai launches. How many miles on it? If 35 to 40,000 miles I would change it to at least a ZO-6 clutch or better. Replace the clutch slave actuator when you do the clutch and replace/bleed with fresh fluid as well. Good Luck

I've gotten away with it for 4K miles. Just occassionally dumping the clutch and powershifting, but I'll have to get one in the spring.

It has 27k miles on it now. Is the clutch hard to replace on a C5? I have access to a lift.

if you have access to a lift it will be really easy. I just did mine w/ the car up on 4 jack stands, wasn't too bad, I have done worse jobs.

This is a tough one to answer. 21CMC put in a 2002 Z06 clutch when I went with an LPE STAGE I TT, around 6 PSI. A few months ago, I upgraded to a stage II and the base line boost is 8 PSI with max boost around 11-11.5 PSI (on pump gas). I still have my 2002 Z06 Clutch with absolutley no problems.

But IANFZ06, a CF member with an LPE STAGE I, has had free-play problems with his clutch since his install. I don't know exactly what his free-play issue is related to but I wantyed to atleast give you some information on his clutch issue being that he has an FI package. Here is IANFZ06's thread on his clutch issues and I hope this helps:

Well the new slave and 'pig tail hose' go on this weekend.
I hope to report that all my freeplay issues are behind me, sometime next week!
