I keep going back and forth on the whole N2O issue. If I were to do it I've pretty much made up my mind to use the NOS 5177 LS1 dry kit. I'd like to hear from anyone who has had any experiences with blowing up motors, melting pistons, or just decreased engine life with this kit.
I am getting that kit installed very shortly on my A4 and I have heard no probs with it. Just make sure you get all of the safety accesories. (Window switch, remote opener, heater, etc.) Also I'm just going to add a 100 shot at first just to break everything in. Also get a realiable tuner who is could with LS1 edit just as a secondary precaution.
Been using my NOS kit for about a year now (125 shot) with zero issues. Haven't really heard of anyone doing major damage on a stock engine with a 100-125 dry shot.
I ended up removing the FPSS (after about a month) as it is a giant piece of junk. It was causing surging issues, or not working at all. Most of the guys running the kit end up removing the FPSS. Check out ls1.com for a ton of info on the NOS 5177 kit. Most of the guys here don't use the NOS kit, they use the NX kits. I love my NOS kit, and definately wouldn't change over to a wet kit.
If you have any spefic questions, feel free to IM me.
I ran the NOS 5177 kit over a year on my F-body (Firebird Formula). Other than some growing pains getting the FPSS adjusted, I had no issues. I ran all the safety stuff like window switch, inline filter, WOT switch, FPSS, etc. I don't cut corners on nitrous install or use.
I ran 125 shots, and the only issue I ever had was traction and tirewear. You'll love it!
The kit comes with a 15 lb bottle (which will obviously not fit in the center rear compartment), but if you call NOS, they will swap you a 10 pound bottle and throw in a few goodies to make up the difference in price.
I tried to get several forum vendors to allow me to buy the kit and told them to just give me a 10 pound bottle and keep the 15 pounder for free. No one would do it, not even Summit (guess no one likes free money....). NOS told me to just order the kit and send them the bottle for the swap. I ordered my kit from Summit. Hope that helps.

Well it doesn't look like anyone has had any issues! That's encouraging. I know about the 15# bottle and the FPSS. I would plan on swapping the bottle out for a 10# and omiting the switch from the installation as well as adding a window switch.
My only other question is how to mount the nozzle(s). Because of my Vortex I have no airbox to fog. My thought was to plumb one nozzle directly into the rubber ball that holds the inverted cone together as seen here. This would point the nozzle right at the MAF but the single nozzle would have to be whatever size to equal a 100 shot and shouldn't be a flare type thate comes with the kit or it would just shoot out the filter.
Can't really help you with the nozzle placement. I have a Blackwing, so my air system is completely different than yours. I spray into the bottom of the Blackwing, with the nozzles pointed at the MAF. As long as the nozzles are several inches away from the MAF, it is OK to spray directly at it. My nozzles are a good 12 iches away, since the Blackwing is kind of long.
I'm sure you'll figure something out. If not, buy a Blackwing, and I can send you some pics of exactly where I mounted my nozzles.
Let me know if you need a window switch.
I have a brand new one(never used) and 3000 and 6000 pills.
I can save you a little money if you decide to do it :chevy
