Hello
I just installed an ati in my friends 2001 c5.Afterwards I jumped on the web to find out what plugs the s/c'ed vette folks were running.I searched the net and ended up here and WOW!!, I wish I came here before he ordered his kit.
The concern I have w/ the stock procharger setup is:
Is anyone having an overheating problem when driving fairly hard(off the track)..Adding one powerful fan and blocking about 1/3 of the radiator had me wondering. Also the intake seems pretty restrictive in addition to sucking hot air.
I went to Andy's website and found his setup(nice, and smart).I convinced my friend to order the ati bracket to a)suck cool unrestricted air from the front and b)put the factory fans back on to get rid of that obnoxiously loud ati fan and allow more airflow thru the rad.Did anyone upgrade the bracket only and get more boost.I can only imagine so..
Thanks ,
Frank
P.s after reading many posts here,I can say you guys have some sweet rides

You have found out what we already knew 2 years ago.. that POS single fan does not cool the Rad very well and under WOT conditions it totally sucks!! Relocating the rad and using the OE fan system is the best thing you can do. As well as custom computer tuning. If you have any other questions feel free to ask... but in the meantime read the forum on this application, there is a wealth of info on the problems and fixes available.
Tnx for the reply,
I figured as much.My friend was wanting to know if its something that had to be done soon or later on.He'll be ordering andy's bracket monday.
The cooling problem is mainly when not moving or in stop and go. As long as you're running along the ATI fan will work OK (as the fan doesn't need to do much as long as you're moving). Getting a cooler air pickup for the blower will help a lot though!
