Default Nitrous Rail or MAF

From the guys that have tried it - which is the preferred delivery method for nitrous, throught the fuel rails or through the MAF? My 2001 is stock with exception of Z06 exhaust and K&N.

I'm afraid I don't understand the question. If you're asking whether a wet or dry kit is preferrable you'll get a split answer from tnis group. Some swear by dry, some swear by wet. There are advantages and disadvantages to both. It depends on what you want. If you want an extra 75-125 HP you can go dry. Any more than that and you will need to use a wet kit.

Guess I need to do more reading on the subject. I was thinking wet on either...so, the MAF injection uses dry and obviously the fuel rail is a wet system right? Does one work (or recommeded), safer better than the other?

What you need to figure out first is how much extra horse power you want .

Max you can safely run on a stock motor is 150 hp .

You can go with either the EFI wet system or a direct port wet system .

The EFI system is fairly easy to install and runs around $500.00 and supplys nitrous and fuel into the air intake between the maf and the throttle body .

The EFI system is more for the street rod that wants a little more power and has limited mods done on the car .

The direct port system is more involved and is a twice the expence and supplys nitrous directly into the cylinders .

Direct port nitrous systems are normaly used by serious drag racers but some ppl are using it on their street cars .

A dry nitrous system supplys nitrous into your air filter box between the air filter and the maf , this tricks the computer into thinking its getting extra air so the computer makes the injectors throw more fuel into the cylinders in hopes of balancing out the A/F mixture .

This seems to be kinda of a hit and miss system , some ppl love it and other ppl cant get it to work right .

The dry system ( on the cars it works on ) seems to want upgraded fuel injectors and PCM tuning , driving the cost of setting up safe system higher .

I have like 2 or 3 mods on my car and run an EFI wet system .

I like to run a 100 shot on the street with 93 octain pump gas which give me around 400 hp to the rear wheels and alows me to blow away 98% of the cars i come across from day to day .

When i go out to the track i put in the 150 shot jets and run 12.0 second passes with 100 octain fuel .

There are good points and bad points to all the systems so do as much reading that you can and understand the nature of nitrous and its application before buying a system or running it on your car .

The more you understand nitrous the more the rumors you have heard will be put to rest .

It also depends on your NA HP and what year MAF you have. A 400RWHP na car should not run a dry 100 shot. The maf will not read the required air and poof. The newer pastic bodied MAFs only read up to about 428g/sec of air and the older ones could go to 512g/s.

Hmm, thats a good point, as I'm already at 400hp, even if I'm thinknig of a 100 shot or less, I should go wet.

Hmmm. This may be one of the reasons that the dry kit works for some and not for others.

When I was talking about the MAF install, I've seen kits that give you a new MAF with the spray connections altready tapped. Are these any good?

The NX Maf kit is very good .

It uses the MAF housing to mount a wet nozzle but does not blow through the MAF .

I was going to get that kit but i didnt have enough money :(
