Default Vortech Question

I have a '01 ZO6 and I'm about to have a Vortech installed. I presently have the Halltech TRIC cold air system. I'm told that I don't want my filter located down there after the aftercooler is installed. The air filter will suck up all the hot air from the aftercooler. Since I have to move the filter into the engine compartment, what air system would you recommend? I want something that performs and looks nice. Thanks.

Rick

The air filter does not get moved into the engine compartment. It stays in the stock location.

If you have one of the filters that uses a hole in the radiator shrouding it might well pick up some heat from the aftercooler heat exchanger. An alternative would be to mount the Vortech heat exchanger to the air conditioning condensor like some of have done. This would eliminate the issue if the air filter picking up any heat from the heat exchanger.

I need to clarify my question, which you have really already answered. My TRIC system is a bottom feeder and after the Vortech install it would pick up hot air from the Vortech charge cooler. I was considering moving the filter to the stock air position, which though not technically correct, I was calling the engine compartment. I guess I need a BlackWing or as someone suggested, mount the charge cooler in a different location. Thanks for the responses.

I also run the Blackwing, no issues no problems. Why go to all the trouble to relocate when there is an easier way.
