I don't know to much about NOS. Never had it in any car of mine before. Never driven in a car with NOS either.
I was thinking about getting NOS for my car but I have always heard "NOS is not good for your engine and your car will not last". I'm a paycheck player so it isn't like I can afford to blow the engine up in my car anytime soon.
For the people that have NOS or had it can you tell me what you think? Do you or did you have problems due to nitrous? How often are you sprayin? When do you spray? Do you have direct port nitrous, if so how do you like it? Do you recommend a 100 shot, 150 shot etc. How much am I looking at in cost for the set up and install?
I have been told not to use it at low RPM's and not to use it in first or second if I want to be safe. If I do get it I plan on only using it maybe two or three sprays a month. *or at least try*
Thanks for reading this and for helping me out. I'm sure you get a lot of this same old question.
To be honest I dont recommend nitrous to people who are 'paycheck to paycheck'. It is the best bang for the buck, but it is not cheap to do nitrous. I have had dry, wet, and direct port on my car already. I can tell you that poopie happens, and with any forced induction it is possible to pop a motor. With that being said....
How much of a budget are you on...... The basic kit is around 500.00, but then there is all the safety stuff. If you want to upgrade to direct port that kit is $1200.00 and you still have to buy the safety stuff. Please let me know if you have any questions.
Purchasing the set up wouldn't be an issue for me. Any long term problems it might cause would be a problem because it is my daily driver and you never know when something will go wrong.
Is there a safe way to use Nitrous? Is there a RPM range or speed at which I can use it and wouldn't have to worry to much about hurting my baby?
Edit: One more thing, how often do you use your nitrous?
You want to use N20 between 3000 and say 5800, maybee 5900 RPM's. This is done by using what is called a RPM window switch. It allows the N20 to turn on only when inside that RPM window. The site in my sig has a FAQ page for window switches if you would like to go over it and learn a little more about them. It also explains it's first gear lock-out option that u might be interested in.
