Re: Anything else before adding S/C... (supercoupe01)
New tires!!!!!
NO JOKE...
Strangely enough after I changed out all my clutch fluid and wrapped the lines in reflective thermal matting I am shifting fine, no dead clutch pedal. I am not sure how long the factory clutch is going to live. I do not do high rpm clutch dumps and I still have the factory size tires. Sooo needless to say I have no traction, BUT I still have a clutch....
C54EVER - You and I are in the same boat - prepping our vettes for a S/C.
Regarding "must have" and "would be nice" - check out my sig below for my current and planned mods (you'll see the A&A ATI Procharger listed with the typical accessories you'll need).
Must haves:
1.) don't skimp on fuel, upgrade the fuel pump for safety sake
2.) a GOOD tune, plan on buying LS1Edit. If you are a DIY type, don't forget to adjust the cat overtemp values and the max torque tables. AFR should be in the mid/high 11s unless you are going to run retarded timing. Do NOT trust the Superchips stuff, go ahead and use those, but double check it yourself. IMO, spending the $$s for a tuner to do it is a "must have."
3.) Snell rated helmet since you WILL want to take it down the quarter mile
Should haves:
1.) Headers for the increased air flow
2.) New airbox to let the blower work easier, stock c5 is restrictive
3.) Upgrade rear tire width, depending on your driving habits, consider BFG KDs
If you are going mid 400s RWHP or higher
4.) Hardened output shaft
5.) New clutch (do this before you put on long tube headers)

This is no joke. Plan on buying tires regularly, and likely wanting to upgrade the size of your wheels, also. At the best case, this would include a tubbing as well.

Good Luck,

You are doing better than me. I spun my McLeod Twin street and it is being rebuilt with Kevlar. Live-N-Learn.

I think everyone has given you great advice. Fuel is very import for longevity of the enginee. Tires, well you will be the best judge of how important they are. If you don't launch on the street or strip, but just take it on a roll, then you can they would certainly fall under nice to have. Clutch pretty much falls the same way. If you are not launching, then you probably will be fine for a while.
Tune and fuel are very important. If you will be putting down ~500+ rwhp, then the stock fuel pump will most likely have to be upgraded..
