Default Weird Problem! Need Help

Guys check out the sig below, have not been having problems recently went to Bradenton in Feb and ran very strong with 50 lb injectors. Today when I tried a few times to give the car 1/2 pedal or so I got a loud put putput sound sort of sputtery and a lot of hesitation- and NO Boost! Checked the belt it looked OK, exhaust sounded normal under slow acceleration. It happened cold and after 10-12 min same result. No Codes.Looks like all the air plumbing to and from the blower are all together, no oil leaks from SC. What the Heck is goin On? Can't reach my mechanic until Monday.

Can you pull the ducting off coming out of the SC to see if it is making boost?

Does sound like you blew off a hose. Check the one that comes off the blower on the bottom side. It can come off and look like it is on.

Had the same thing happen last year, it turned out to be 1 of the pipes leading to the intercooler had gotten pulled out of the hose.
It looked like it was still on until I started pulling on everything down there.
What was really weird was I still had 3lbs of boost at part throttle then it would go away as the RPM went up.

Oh and NO dont run any more then you have to to find the problem, if it is the problem your running Unfiltered intake air

Can't find any hoses that were off or cracked. looked at the down hose from the SC- it appears to be tight, though it has a few scrapes on it. looked under the car and pulled on all the fittings and they looked good.

is the blower actually compressing air? take off the output hose and rev it up and see if it is actually blowing.

Also started having a problem after starting the car it kind of died a few times on me before getting going. One other thing is that the engine bay has been extremely dirty with loose dirt, but I still can't find a leaky hose. I think I'll let the mechanic pull off the blower hose. Now at least the air system looks intact. The blower appears to be turning (had a blower bearing changed a couple of months ago April 2, 2004). What really makes things worse is that Ernie from Breathless is going on a "road trip" for a week for his products line and when I called him he said that he couldn't even look at the car until he gets back.I guess I'm gonna have to plead with him to take a quick look at it tommorrow :mad

Just ran the car on a quiet street and was able to get 5lbs boost with T/C on and 3/4 pedal (or less). Could this be belt slippage? should I get an 8 rib system? I've had the blower for 3 yrs without much trouble due to slippage.

That certainly could be belt slippage... I got sick of screwing around with that and telling myself that I didnt need an 8 rib.. and in a final decision, I bought it and am happy with it.

One of the first things to look to is the belt when boost drops off. How long have you had that belt on and is the dirt maybe shredded belt in you engine bay?

belt was replaced April 2004 and was slightly shredded after 3 yrs, How much does the 8 rib system cost and do you need to re tune on Dyno after the install? It's weird because I was able to get some boost yesterday (ruined my auto-x plans), even with 1/2 pedal

I'm not sure how much the 8 rib costs...I think in the neighborhood of 1000-1200, but it's been a while since I looked. I'm pretty sure you don't need to dyno tune it afterward, though.

Keep us updated...this has me curious. Good luck.

Spoke to Ernie today and he agrees that since the air system appears intact it can wait. But he agrees that slippage, blow off valve issues may be the cause. He wants to run it on the Dyno. I'm going away early July so it lokks liike nothing will get done for awhile.
