Default Alternator nut spinned off!

Since installing the Magnacharger I have'nt had the chance to really take the car up in the RPM's. Since finally installing a hood on the car I now had that chance. Shortly after firing it up for the third time today and taking it out I noticed a clanging sound underhood. I shut the car off and popped the hood. My alternator pulley was halfway off the shaft and the serpentine belt only had 2 grooves worth of belt on the pulley itself. Man was I upset. The pulley itself had some damage from spinning on the alternator shaft. I ended up having to pay $50.00 for a new alt pulley and bolt. Which I suppose was fortunate as GM does not sell these parts seperate from the alternator. The alternator pulley has never been off the car before. I used Red loctite to ensure a trouble free service life. I'm really glad this did'nt happen at speed because allot of damage could have happened.

Has anyone heard of this happening before after a SC install?

Thanks,
Aaron Lephart

Man, you have all the bad luck! I've taken mine off several times (it makes getting a tight belt on easier), and so for have had no problems. If you use locktite and impact it on I don't see how it could come off. Maybe just a fluke thing?
