Default Looking for N20 overview

The N20 vs. FI threads made me realize I don't know much about N20, I never looked into it before going heads/cam & FI.

What are the most common C5 vendor kits?

What's wet vs. dry, and why is there a 100shot limit on dry, and 150 on wet? I suspect dry is without another fuel injector, but I can't believe that's possible...

What are the basic parts, and what are the must-have options? Bottle warmer, electric valve, window switches, etc.

Why all the plumbing under the hood? Why not hide all those hoses or use hardpipe? I've seen installs with loose braided wire laying across the motor.

there are a couple of kits on the market. NX & TNT make wet kits and NOS makes dry

The reason the limit is 100 on dry is due to the injectors. The reason 150 is the limit on wet is due to the length of the LS6 intake. Nitrous and Fuel chemically repel each other and the further nitrous has to travel in the intake the greater the chance of the mix separating; puddling the intake

What are the basic parts, and what are the must-have options? Bottle warmer, electric valve, window switches, etc.Basic parts are , bottle warmer, blowdown tube, bottle guage( all this comes in the genx2 upgrade), window switch, NGK copper plugs. Now for the accessories that are nice, but not needed: bottle opener, wideband o2, fuel pressure guage, nitrous pressure guage, switch panel.

Why all the plumbing under the hood? Why not hide all those hoses or use hardpipe? I've seen installs with loose braided wire laying across the motor.
You could use hardpipe, but its a bitch and expensive. You always want the shortest distance between the solenoid and the fogger.

Here is the NOS system.

You can also check out the Nitrous Oxide Systems web site for more info.

I could easily write a 10 page subject on the juice, but I'll just throw together a few sentences to start.

The 100hp dry limitation is due to injector size, the dry setup sprays nitrous in front of the MAF and relies on the maf to then add extra fuel via the injectors. Dry kits are kind of neat but serious people run wet kits (or in extreme cases both).

The most popular kit I think is the NX wet kit. It goes for around $550, and includes everything you need. It's a single fogger setup and is adjustable from 50-150rwhp, with 175rwhp being close to the limit of the stock shortblock.

NOS and NX make a "direct port" kit, one nozzle per cylinder, which is more reliable (the manifold isn't great at routing fuel). The downside is its about double the money.

There are various accessories people buy, most of them are a waste of money IMHO, but people eat that stuff up...

Here is my setup. I would say I have a clean install. Did it myself. I also did what another forum member showed me for my purge. I installed a side cove purge which looks awesome.

Here is my setup.
I have learned a lot after re-working my initial set up. It performs well now. Keep in mind the minimum shot is 200 for this set up. Any smaller of a shot, and the inside diameter of the jets will be very tiny.

Also, a separate fuel cell is highly recommended.

As well, I must recommend the following for serious users:
Bottle warmer, purge valve, bottle gauge, window switch, spark enhancer, NGK #4177 plugs. A wideband o2 is a must, a fuel cell with regulator, a fuel pressure gauge, nitrous pressure gauge, switch panel, EFI Live, LS1 Edit.

Going with N20 can be a bit involved. But if it is done right, it can produce a lot of relatively safe HP & TQ.

Be careful who you listen to.
Some people think they know everything.
Those are the ones you need to look twice at.

Thanks guys, I'm starting to understand N20. Maybe I should add it so I have all my bases covered.

That side cove purge looks pretty intimidating. Someone in that thread said 'there goes 3lbs'. How long does an average bottle last? How many runs? Do you fill it weekly or monthly?

The first pic above is what I associated with N20, lots of hoses laid over the motor. Doesn't that trigger false KR? The second pic is pretty clean, but still lots of piping involved. Can you run two hardpipes (like brake lines) on the inside of the manifold from the back to the throttle body?

See my sig for the NXL kit.
