Default ? on Kenne Bell Boost a Pump

I have Andy’s P1-SC procharger set up with a Kenne Bell Boost a Pump. I am running 6.5 psi with 42 lb fuel injectors on a stock LS6. I set the boost a pump to max. The fuel pressure gauge shows 60 lb all the time except when I was at WOT then it dropped to 55 to 57 lb. So how do you set your boost a pump? Thanks.

Thats absolutely normal and was probably tuned to match that fuel pressure response. The regulator is located in the rear of the car, far from the the rails..there is always a drop as you describe.

No problem, I have the same set up and mine does the same thing. Just make sure your listning for the dreaded ping if it is leaning out.

Confirm that it WAS tuned for the drop off in fuel pressure, since this is a potentialy dangerous condition.
It may be too late for the motor once you hear the pinging.....

My fuel pressure will increase under boost, due to the fuel pressure regulator being connected to the boost line.
After extreme driving conditions in combination with less then half a tank, I can see a drop off in fuel pressure. This is when I know it's time to get my foot out of it and fill up!!!

As far as the BAP, I just recently took a closer look at mine and was surprised to see it was only set on half way. I have plenty of pressure on the dyno and under "normal" hard driving. After talking with a very informed tuner buddy of mine, we both agreed that I should keep it at half way untill the extreme conditions, and then crank it up.

You want the BAP turned all the way up. This will allow your pump do all it can to overcome the poorly regulated (return in the back) system.

I think I'm going to just go with a racetronix pump for now. Thanks anyway.

Once you install the racetronics pump and you find out the pressure is still dropping thats when you will know you will also need the KBBAP.. Happened to me, could happen to you.

This is incorrect!!

The max should be 16-17 volts. Much beyond that the pump starts to cavitate and pump air into the lines.

My dyno tuner actually ended up setting my BAP at the lowest setting and didn't need more.

Anyone know how Low, Med and High relate?

Just talked to Kenne-Bell Tech.

For reference:

Kenne-Bell BAP Settings

Low +.5 Volt to High 17.5 Volt Max
Every 10% = 1 Volt
