Default Broken Vortech

Went out to the garage today to take the car for a spin, tried to start the car, and it just wouldnt turn over. Made a HORRIBLE SQUEALING noise.

Called my tuner, he came right over. (nothing like a house call!!)

We tried to start the car again this time it cranked over and he said go ahead and shut it off.

He said sounds like the bearings in the VORTECH are shot. So he cut the belt that turns the SC, and fired it up again, sure enough SILENCE.

So he took my car to his shop, and is sending the head unit back to VORTECH on Monday.

I will keep you posted.

Good time to upgrade to a T-Trim while it's there.

Better the blower than the motor.

Good luck,

I saw your earlier post. I went with the quieter Vortech, but shoot if I can do the T-trim in quiet mode. That will be one of my first calls on monday. Anyone on here using the V-7 YSi-TRIM ???

To go above the T-Trim would require new brackets and major mods to the C5 Vortech system I believe. Even simple things like hood clearance would become issues.

The T-Trim V2 SQ hybrid should be good to 700rwhp.
I think the $900 upgrade includes new bearings and seals which is what your rebuild may entail also.

Hopefully your V2 gears aren't damaged and it's only a bearing. You may want to look into your oiling situation tho and what caused the bearing failure.

That's a bummer. Oh well it was going into the shop anyway for a little bit of tweaking...

FYI, he is running the RMCR\Vortech setup with a V-2 SC E-Trim head unit and not the S\SC-trim kit that Vortech sells.
