Default Mag top speed?

With the 98 A4 nearly stock, it pulled to 168 in a looooong deserted stretch of Nevada highway. What's that add'l 50% let you pull to with an IC maggie? (and how squirrily does it get? 168 was noisy, but pretty sedate)

I read about a guy in Nevada with a non-IC Mag who went to 180mph shifting INTO 6th then popped the motor. I guess the tune was off and it went a bit lean at the top of 5th gear. So id guess (with enough room) 200mph--ish??

One of this month's mags (motor trend?) has the GT, Carerra and Enzo doing 200+...the Carerra did 201+ with 605 hp...

So I guess high 180's - low 190's, if the tune was right, and things didn't get too hot.

I guess that's the other question: Can a Maggie handle long term WOT for minutes at a time?

I beleive the IC Mag can get very close to 200 mph top speed. With 400 bhp the new vette hits 185. The IC Mag is at 500 bhp.

The new Vette also has a better coefficient of drag which is helping it big time.

An IC Mag on an LS6will make more than 500 bhp as well, some guy are pushing(or already at) 500 RWHP.

There is not that much of a difference in drag coefficient. .29 vs .28x, which rounds up to .29. What makes the difference is the 50 extra bhp and the stronger TQ curve generated bt the LS2.

And I was saying 500 bhp on a stock Ls1 application, which I was using as a baseline.

BTW, The Lingenfelter 450 bhp LS1 engine was tested at a top speed of 190.

The IC Mag will most probably hit 200 mph, trust me.

The 1999 Motor Trend Mag. has a blue FRC on the cover that they tested at 178 mph stock w/mn6. I think it's the OCt. Issue.

IIRC, it'll hit 190 if the mirrors are folded in and the foglights taped over.

Your bigger limit is your redline.

I think an MN6 with 3.42's 5th gear works out to 175mph around 6,000 rpms. W/O raising your fuel cutoff, I think it would be hard to get much over 180, even if you have the power to do it. Also, I've heard the mags run out of steam in the upper rpms (6000++) compared to some other blowers. Not sure, wish I had my gearing calculator handy...
