Default half shaft issues

Anyone have difficulty with broken half shafts??? I have an A 4 and I'm going to the Stage IV/V transmission... Should I get new half shafts when I change the transmission, and has anyone broken them...where to get them. I drag race a half-dozen times a year, with slicks...Making 600RWHP with P1SC, Stage II heads, and forged bottom end.

I know of members who have broken those half shafts many times... they are not bullet proof... so keep that in mind when buying.

I broke a CV joint once but I tend to think it was a defect due the fact that I am pushing more power then ever with no issues.

If he has not broke them they must be pretty solid.

I don't think there are any upgrade half shafts available. Does anyone know of any?

This is the priority list I'm using for beefing up the drivetrain on an m6. a4 is obviously much weaker in the tranny dept.

- clutch
- left side diff output shaft
- diff brace
- Carbon fiber tunnel drive shaft (I would keep the rubber couplers)
- Tranny output shaft
- right side output shaft (think someone just came out with this part)
- Tranny upgrades (blueprint, shift forks, synchros...

Some people have had good luck with just the top two. I'm going to run mine with the top 3 and hope for the best.

You will most likely break something else before the half shafts will give out. I have a A4 with well over 600 to the rear wheels and have had no problems. I think the autos are a bit easier on the diff and shafts than the M6's which will also help keep them alive. I have seen numerous broken trans's and rear diffs on the M6 cars at the track but never a broken half shaft.

Thanks for the uplifting words . Who knew 500 rwhp coupled with a stock non-Z06 clutch with drag radials wouldn't work? . You can imagine what my garage smelled like this morning.

Cheers,

Mark
