Default I Gota Vent!!!!! **Updated with pics***

Well,

Took the Stage X TTi Twin turbo out for a ride today.
Beutiful fall day, sunny leave fallin...Running like a rapped ape..

Decide to lean on it..in second..just about ready to shift..BANG!!

I'm think WTF....Its shakin, hoppin, poppin, banging and yes, even lockin up the rear tires...

You guessed it..Destroyed yet another differential!
This ones bad, even dumped the fluid and had a hell of a time getting it on the trailer with ti locking up. My guess is total loss.

I give up..this will be like the 3rd time this year alone for diff issues.
Im about ready to dial it back to 5psi and put runflats on it and call it good

Phil

Which ones you running?

I prefer strength over a bit taller gear. I shattered a 3.90 + case.

Switched to the hardened 3.73 Getrag and it's been fine. Either that or the 3.42 hardened Z06 is the only way to go.

Zo6 case
LPE Hardend outputshaft
DTE strut brace
This was a special motive 3.90 "Pro gear" treatment. I figured I would try this as the cryo treated shatter even quicker than a shelf one did.

I'm thinking the Getrag 3.73 is in the works, just hate paying $1800 and having it get trashed like this.

This was on my street 335 Pilots. the Big BFG drags were trashed and went back to the PS.

Sent you a PM.
I think any 3.90 weakens the diff case structure (per Getrag).
That is the setup I broke also. Broke mine with 335 Pirelli PZero's.

Here is a link to the hardened 3.73's:
http://www.sdpc2000.com/cart.asp?act...2266&pid=90937

If you add a 3.90 or 4.10 to any case it will break under heavy torque.

I feel for you. I havnt had my car for a month because my diff went and took the tranny with it. I just bought DTE stage 3 diff with 4:10's and their tranny brace. This is not good!!!!!!!!!!!!!!How much power are you putting to the wheels?

P.S. You should check to see if your tires were flat spotted. Hopefully not.

Mine didn't lock up, but I did leave 2 Quarts of gear oil on the windshield of the car behind me. LOL

Haha..Just another reason to hate vette owners..Did you offer to clean it up.hehe.

As for power..well..let just say I was on my way to find out..with good fuel in it..and about 18psi

This new setup is really beginning to cost me an arm,leg and another REAR..hehe..

Phil, I guess I need to stop listening to you, all you do is make more power and then break stuff. Sorry to hear it, good luck, makes me really think about power breaking things.Sometime not being able to hook up is a good thing.

18lbs !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Love the TQ of the turbo but now I'm beginning to appreciate the gradual build up of power by the centrifugal a little more.

That blows big time. As much fun as 3:90's are I'm keeping my 3:42's in the hopes that they will stand up to my current and future ( when the boost gets turned up ) power level.

Hopefully next season is better for both of us.

Cheers,

Mark

Ya, I think I am going to the 3.73 HD Getrag unit this time. Hate to spend double than the Z06 cost just for the ratio.

Does anyone have a link or info as to whether or not the HD 373 has a hardened output shaft allready?

Oh, my guess would be around 50mph.
It first broke, no drive then started to bind/lock intermittently.

Had a hell of a time getting on the tilt trailer..it would roll then lock. had to floor jack it up and pull.
