I have to redo the motor in my car..I thought it was # 7 but it turns out my cam bolts came out and destructed the entire engine..I am putting a forged bottom end back in the car..I want it to last..So how many have run a blown 382? I have seen question about rod length/angle that makes it seem as not good for longevity..So I want a steel crank--and mine as well stroke it so it is practical..But who knows about how long it will live--shorter lifespan than 346 or just a myth? If properly balanced-blueprinted last just as long? drawbacks? Thanks Dave
I had the same problem this summer. My 2001's engine (with only 2,700 miles) also had loose cam bolts. The cam walked backwards in the cylinder block and damaged two pistons in the bottom end. ECS did the work and we went with an LS6 block and all forged internals - pretty much a stock setup with a bit lower compression and the LPE blower cam.
Best of luck, I know how you are feeling right about now
What is the point of that silly little troll announcing the person's explorer version and id etc etc? Is that supposed to scare me into buying some internet security device? Why the hell do you have that in your sig? Part of a business venture?
As for the stroker - if built well, you'll be selling it before it need service.
I was worried about longevity so that helps..After this, I will keep the car..probably give it to my son..I want it to last..
As far as that troll, ive had that thing for 4 years--i dont know if it is accurate or not, thought it was pretty funny actually--not meant to offend anyone so if it bothers you or anyone else--chime in and say and i will happily remove...or if you want one of your own, heres where i got it from http://www.danasoft.com/ ..
