Default Vortech JT-Trim

Just wanted to give you guys that might be interested an update.

At RMCR, they are currently working on fitting the JT-Trim Vortech SC to a 2003 Vette, with a 408Ci motor.

Here are the stats from the vortech website.

VORTECH V-7 YSi-TRIM or JT-TRIM CCW
"Large blower" performance in a smaller package that fits most existing Vortech bracketry
Fits engines up to 1,200 horsepower
Maximum airflow: 1,600 CFM
Maximum boost pressure: 30 PSI
Absolute maximum impeller speed: 65,000 RPM
Adiabatic efficiency: 78%
Available with straight or curved discharge and clockwise rotation only
Part numbers below do not include drive pulley
9.162" Wide, 10.490" Tall, 6.126" Deep (not including input shaft)
P/N 2A158-060: V-7 YSi-Trim, Straight Discharge, Heavy Duty, Satin Finish
P/N 2A158-068: V-7 YSi-Trim, Straight Discharge, Heavy Duty, Polished Finish
P/N 2A158-070: V-7 YSi-Trim, Curved Discharge, Heavy Duty, Satin Finish
P/N 2A158-078: V-7 YSi-Trim, Curved Discharge, Heavy Duty, Polished Finish

Vortech said the JT-Trim is basically the YSi TRIM but only in a CCW configuration.

compared to the T-trim

VORTECH V-1 T-TRIM SUPERCHARGER

* Fits engines up to 825 horsepower
* Maximum airflow: 1,200 CFM
* Maximum boost pressure: 26 PSI
* Absolute maximum impeller speed: 55,000 RPM
* Adiabatic efficiency: 73%
* Available with straight or curved discharge and clockwise or counterclockwise rotation
* Part numbers below do not include drive pulley
* 8.75" Wide, 9.44" Tall, 5.52" Deep (not including input shaft)

Mark went down today and said they had it on the car, and it looks really GOOD!!!! Maybe he can post some pictures of the install. They are working on getting the piping to fit under the stock hood.

Flows about 400 more CFM and can spin it up to 65,000 rpms. Should make around 12-16lbs of boost on his 408ci.

Sounds nice.

Just some notes:
The Vortech kit spins CCW (counter-clockwise).
Definitely a custom kit from RMCR that will require a custom bracket and belt setup.

Would be nice to see RMCR compare a J-Trim, YS-Trim and YSi-Trim if they are going with a completely new custom setup.

I was down at RMCR yesterday and saw the setup. The head unit is a V-7 JT-Trim CCW. The volute on the V-7 is huge compared to a V-1 or V-2. They had to clearance the RMCR bracket and slightly rotate the thermostat housing to get it to fit. It even fits under the stock hood.

Next they will be modifying an inlet hat to fit and they should be good to go after that.

If there were an SQ version of this head unit that would be really cool...

Cool.

How did the JT-Trim sound vs an SQ?
Did you hear it run?

They have not fired it yet. I'll try to be there when they do and shoot a short video.

I edited my post on top with the correct info.

It is a V-7 I had the J-trim which is a V-4.

RMCR said the last YSi they installed on a car, was fairly quiet, in fact it was quieter than a standard T-Trim.

Ysi's are VERY loud on a mustang....super cool whistle. I am hoping my ATI F1C (5.73) sounds as cool and as loud.
Enjoy it,
Jon

the jt is the same as the ys. The ysi is roughly the same output as the old j trim. Both the ysi and j are rated at 1100hp. The jt and ys are rated at 1000.
