Default Need Advice/ Input.....

Hey fellas,

As some of you know...I'm picking up Eric's Maggie. I have owned vettes for the past 3 or 4 years now..... I know most of you have your vette as a secondary form of transportation. Is anyone using their blown vette as a daily driver?

I was thinkin' about buyin' another "beater" for the rainy days, but I have had a hard time w/ driving anything other than a vette. I know it sounds pretty stuck up, but when I bought my 1994 C4 M6 w/ 10k miles, I never drove my other car ever again......

My daily commute is maybe 20 or 30 miles per day total..... Any input or suggestions is appreciated.....

thank

-Marko

EDIT: I ran into this hood.... VIS carbon fiber hood.... this one clears a maggie.... Would y'all get it painted or leave the carbon fiber....my vette is black so it might work. I hate seein' all the ricers w/ the carbon fiber hoods...looks like they ran outta $$$$

http://www.carbon-fiber-hoods.com/enter.html

Sorry, there was no direct link, you gotta click on chevy and go down a couple hoods...

It is the OEM w/ cowl induction. It is the best price on a new hood I have seen so far.....

I don't see any reason why you couldn't use your Vette + MagnaCharger for a daily driver.

Hey Mark,

Where did you get your boost/ fuel gauges and pods from? I'm sure it was a package deal from ECS?

After the blower, I got work on the clutch, master and slave.... What are your impressions of the Exedy twin?

there is nothing wrong with using a blown vette for a daily driver. mine gets better gas mileage than anything else we own. I could drive my mid 10 sec car everyday, but I choose not to expose my pride and joy to the dangers that daily drivers face. you know, parking lots, ******* who can't drive, ect.

I ordered the AutoMeter Phantom gauges (#'s 5763 and 5776) from eGauges. I ordered the pod from Summit Racing.

Thus far I've been very pleased with the Exedy twin.

Marko -- I've had my Maggie now for over 1 1/2 years, and when I'm not lugging the kiddos around in our minivan ( ), my C5 is my daily driver. I have around 20k miles on the supercharger.

This weekend I took it roadracing, and Monday I drove my little girl to school in it. It served both purposes quite nicely.

The only time I've been stranded in this car is a flat tire, an overheat because I screwed up and blew a fan fuse while upgrading my headlights, and a broken main accessory belt (only once) at the 1/4 mile racetrack. I have no reservations of driving it all the time. Indeed, I'd lose out on lots of enjoyment if I didn't do so.

Thanks Steve,

That is exactly what I was lookin' for!!! I was originally planning on cutting my hood and makin' the vette more of a secondary car. That has never been easy to do 'cuz I love these cars so much and NOTHING else comes close.

I guess I can start saving up for some more tires and a clutch....LOL

If my Vette was my only car...it could be driven everyday. It's a little less of a daily driver because of my cam I recently installed...but when I had the stock cam...no problem with the Magnacharger in everyday traffic. Good luck man!!

I would get a beater for daily driving, thats what I did. I felt the same way you did about not wanting to drive anything else, but once the weekend comes, you'll enjoy driving your vette 10x more. Trust me.
