Default New Idea for warning sensor

I was thinking about this last week. Some will say I have went overboard on some equipment, but I think sometime it is better to be safe than sorry. I have Wide Band with warnings, Boost control with warning and a fuel pressure gauge in plain sight. What you think about a black box that is linked in to these items and when you go into warning mode a sensor put some where on your body gives you a low amp high volt shock in a area of your choice? That way you can be "dead nutts on all the time" It could work

I would like to retain my nuts in a not-dead state... but I was thinking the other day, it would be great if you could wire a wideband O2 into the PCM in a way that lean conditions at WOT would trigger a warning light/buzzer and retard timing.

AFAIK the PCM can retard timing for a number of different reasons. My car was sputtering around one day because the connection to my coolant temp sensor was a little loose and causing the temp to fluctuate between actual (200 degrees) and really cold (around 0-30 degrees). So one easy way you could do it is to have a box that would interrupt the coolant temp signal and send a different voltage through to the PCM (coolant temp sensor is basically a resistor that changes resistance according to temperature, the coolant temp signal is just a voltage reading off that resistor). Of course it would only do this under boost so you retain coolant temp readings otherwise (and honestly, who is staring at coolant temps while under boost?)

Just a thought. Of course if there are more elegant ways that don't involve tricking the computer into thinking the car is running really cold, those would be preferred

Next thing Gary you'll want a warning light for all of the warning lights. Just kidding! I guess if I had all of the money that you have in your car, I'd want that stuff too!

I'm going to do something similar... if my wideband warning (running too lean) comes on, I will trigger a relay to send a different IAT sensor voltage to the PCM. I will tune the PCM to pull a ****LOAD of timing at that particular IAT sensor reading to help keep things a bit safer - I should also feel the power loss instantly while seeing a warning light come on, and hopefully this will happen in time for me to let off and save the pistons.

Now since the vette is fly by wire - I wonder if it could be setup to close the throttle partially or fully based on a signal? This way it wouldnt be necessary for us to react personally to get off the gas, the computer could do it MUCH faster.

Actually, I LOVE the idea. But, I will do a remote sensor and hook it up to your NUTS. That way if my car has a warning you will get the SHOCK and then you can just call me on my cell phone!!!!!
