It is louder than the P1 cause the ratio is 1.0 more but reliable 550rwhp your tune will have to be 100% dead on. If the weather or conditions change some boom.....so just be really careful. Some guys are running upto 600rwhp on a stock bottom but it will only be a matter of time. Have fun play safe.

Are you talking about blower noise or exhaust noise? My D1SC is quiet as hell (note that not all D1SC's sound the same).

That's why you can't hear your D1SC, the exhaust!

My D1SC is loud. It has the filter right in front of it. Andy's current kit has the filter in the fender.

We have sold several of Andy's D1 kits... very nice quality and Andy is always just a phone call away if there is ever a question. Our last 382/A&A D1SC did 612 through an 04 A4 Coupe on a conservative tune. 600+ through an automatic is scary ... imagine never having to lift between shifts with boost that comes on like a freight train

The gear drive in the S/C case is what makes the noise that folks comment on... not the impellar. D1's are typically louder than P1's. We have made specific requests to ATI for quiet head units on P1's and they have delivered a couple to us that are very quiet, IMO. Hell, ATI even tests the decibel level and writes it on the box when packing it up for shipment. I have not asked about this for D1's. Gear cut and lash have everything to do with what people hear and some even complain about. Don't you guys remember what (cam) gear drive sounded like in the "old" engines? Same thing...

You are correct if you are comparing the P1SC to the D1SC. They both have a 4.1 ratio. But there is also a D1 that has a 4.44 ratio and that one is louder. The F1 and F2 have 5.0 ratio. I have one of there newer more unique units called an F1C that has a ratio of 5.73:1 which is VERY loud. this is all acording to Procharger Specs page at www.procharger.com

D1SC hands down. The D1 will give you room to grow with. Mine is definitely on the quieter side (minus the Borlas ) .

100% agree with Mark. Get the D1 with the 4.1 ratio. This way its still quiet and it gives you MORE than enough room to grow. Just de-tune it until you get a forged bottom end.
Here is the layout on all the different types.

460 ... yaaaa riiight. With the D1SC you can start with 500 and then turn it up from there.

Does anyone know what the pricing on a D1sc kit runs? Im really considering it. What numbers would I put down with the lowest setting? My mods are as follows...

Donaldson Blackwing
Borla Catback
LG Longtubes
Off Road X pipe
G5X3 on a 114 lsa
comp 921 springs
chromoly pushrods
titanium retainers
dyno tune

car put down 380 rwhp without the catback or blackwing. Im thinking maybe around 400 now.

My D1SC is really loud. But you have to remember theres a lot of factors in whats loud and whats not. I may say its loud, but someone else may say its not. A matter of opinion. Another thing is the location. When I drive on the highway, its hard to hear. But when I drive on back roads with trees and houses around, you can hear it better. When I drive down mainstreet where theres buildings all around me, thats where you hear it the most.
