cam selection
I wanted some real life opinions on cams. Yes i relize that this is an old topic but at least i have read the threads. My setup is in my sig.
I have been reading old threads about cams lately. I was thinking my next mod would be headers. When you read about cams that put 35 to 45 rwhp down it sounds like a great mod. I have been thinking about the gt 2 from lincolnfilter. It is on sale for under 400 with springs. I do want a noticible lope but this is my daily driver. At the same time i am wondering if the gt 2 is to mild? Any help would be great because my car is to slow. My car is a fixed roof coupe (all are 6sd z51) and woulod like to keep up with a zo6 so i gues i will need many mods.

My thought would be a Comp Cam 224/228 .581/.588 on a 114 LSA.
Should give you good power up to 6500 and a moderate but not objectionable lope. In my 427 that cam idles at 800 rpm. With a smaller engine, it would be a little more radical, maybe 900-925, it depends on if you have a good tuner. Get the recommended cam kit, springs, etc., and a professional tune.
Then get a 3.90 or 4.10 rear end and you may not have to do any more! (but you will)

ok i think i am starting to understand. That cam would be alot more agressive than the lpe gt2-3. any other suggestions?
p.s went on ls1 sounds and love the big loap (daily driver)
