When I bought my Optima, the Autozone didn't have the cover for my size battery. So, I emailed Optima and gave them the size and where I purchased it and they sent me one in the mail for free. If I remember right, there is a "contact us" link on their website.

Give it a try... GT

Here's mine:

Yes, it is the battery cover sized and intended for the stock (rectangular) Delco battery.

When my stock battery died, I replaced it with an Optima.

Due to the top posts of the Optima, it was obvious this cover would no longer work. I didn't want to give up my airbrushed cover, and luckily it was physically big enough to cover the Optima.
So I cut a couple of pieces of 1" thick delrin (plastic) and stuck them to the top of the battery to space the cover up and clear the top posts. The cover rests on top of the spacers. Problem solved.

That cover looks good. I checked into it and my understanding is that it only fits the Optima 34/78.

That's true. Unless they started making them again, they were only available for the 34/78. Optima was giving them away for free if you called and asked for one. I talked to one of the Optima sales guys about it at the time and he told me they were discontinuing them. That cover will not fit my 75/35. I got one and tried it. I ended up giving it to a buddy with a 34/74.

Pic of the cover

A 34/74

My 75/35. Note the hold-down bracket at the bottom of the pic. That was free from Optima too. Fits better than the stocker.

Default Optima model differences?

What are the differences, functionally, between the 34/74 and the 75/35 Optima red tops?

34/74 - 800 CCA and 980 CA

75/35 - 720 CCA and 910 CA

The 75/35 is a slightly smaller battery with the posts in somewhat different positions as you can see in the pics. It came out after the 34/74.

Okay...so in seeing all the pictures I see side connect terminal posts. Does anyone know anything about the '04 battery connections? I looked at mine, and they are some kind of odd clamp style to fit the top post type batteries.

I did mine a while back and posted the results for an 04. The clamp you are refering to has a 90 degree bend in it and will not fit over the edge of the Optima. No worries though. I just bent the clamp to a 45 degree angle to clear the edge of the battery...works fine...

Peace

This one isn't paintable but is very nice if you show your car.
