I have a 2003 a4 with 30,000. The only time I brought it to the dealer was to have a fuel sender replaced. Any reason to have a 30,000 mile service at the dealer, i.e. computer update etc. I have a blackwing installed so there is no need to replace the air filter.

Personally - I've never subscribed to the theory of planned check-ups at specific intervals. I do most of the routine maintenance myself (checking fluid level, etc.) and either do the fluid changes myself or take it somewhere else to have it done.
Most of the time, the service departments are looking for "customer pay" work to do - they'll give you a whole list of stuff that you should have done, and most folks will say - go ahead and do it as long as you have the car up in the air.
I do follow the recommendations outlined in the owner's manual for service intervals - I just don't take it back to the dealer for that. JMHO....
Not an answer but another queston for the readers. If you don't have the scheduled services done and then need some type of warrenty work performed will they hassle you about not having the scheduled service up-to-date?

Following the scheduled maintenance outlined in the owner's and service manuals is a good idea, but it does not have to be done by a dealer. You can do it yourself or have an independent do it. Just keep receipts and records for maintenance preformed by yourself or others and you should not have any problems when it comes to warranty work. Too, you may want to review the section of your owner's manual on Maintenance Schedule.
