This may be an dumb question, but here goes. When I hit AUTO to automatically have the temp. adjusted (as per my settings), the air conditioning light comes on. Why does it do that, if I have my temp set at 85 degrees? Does that mean the A/C is engaged & draining power/gas from the engine? I can turn the A/C light off manually, but sometimes it just blinks. I guess I need someone to explain the console functions. hehe
Mine does the same thing. I believe the system is programmed so that whenever you select AUTO, the A/C is engaged. You can turn that off by pushing the button. If the A/C light blinks after pushing the button, it's because your MODE is set to a defraust on the windshield and the temperature is above 40 degrees. It keeps the A/C on in these instances to help remove moisture from the vehicle and to keep the windows clear.

Go Air Force!
You got it. The A/C will stay on in the defrost mode and also when the interior is cold enough so that the system thinks it needs to take some of the chill out of the air. Eventually it will let you control it manually. That's not too technical but you get the picture...
Cool car isn't it. You learn something new here everyday. I leave mine on auto all the time unless I know I need all the power I can get then I hit the off switch. Once done with that it's back to the auto position.
