Default C5 or Z06?

Ever since I started wanting a Corvette, I looked for a 2002 torch red C5 'vert. But now I'm starting to think that a '02 black Z06 would be more to my liking . What you buy and why?

I had the same dilemma almost two yrs ago. Gladly gave up 55hp for the open air.

I haven't regretted once. And I could of gotten the Z06 cheaper then what I paid for my new Vert

Depends on how much HP you want (Z06), whether or not you want the sun shining on your forehead (vert), and how often you want to have to dust the thing off (the deciding factor)

That's really personal preference. I originally wanted the FRC but it didn't have the options that I wanted so I bought the Vert. And haven't regretted it at all.

I wanted a Z06, but with a slushbox (yes, yes, I know already!!). I liked the look of the vert with the top down (d@mn, it's ) but NOT with the top up.

- so I bought a coupe instead. Topless or hardtop, I can have both (sorta)

I bought the Coupe. I preferred the look and the added storage in the hatch area. JMHO

The ZO6 is nice, but I love my vert. I bought my vert new before the ZO6 came about. and if I had to do it again today, I would still get a vert. That's what the vette is all about. For a few extra bucks you can get up to the same HP. But that's just my opinion, go with your gut...you can't loose.

When I decided to buy a new Vette, there was never any question about it. Droptop all the way. And I haven't had the first second of regret.

I had a vert, and then traded it in on a Z06. I haven't looked back! Don't get me wrong I loved the Pace Car, but I love the way the Z handles, I like the safer feeling, and as compared to the vert, I don't have to worry about replacing faded tops or the rear glass falling out. I guess there are issues with both, but I'm glad I went with a Z. Besides, if I decide to go back with a vert, I will just do a convertible conversion on the Z06.

It depends whether you want style, or power?

I'm in the SAME BOAT myself.....looking at a C5, but do I settle on a coupe (so I keep the open roof feel that my Z28 has) or do I go for the power? *Personally*, I'm leaning to the power side, since that's what is lacking from my Z28 at the moment, and a C5 coupe won't have anymore than I've already got, so I might as well up the ante, and get a Z06.

Again though, it's all about personal preference, and what you'd rather sacrifice .

From the owner of a coupe, and a vert before that, get the Z06.

Riding around with the top down is vastly overrated. The Z06, in stock trim, is one of the most powerful automobiles in the world. There is very little that you will run up against, or see on the road, stock for stock which can hold a candle to it.

My reasons were simple:
1) Easier to gain horses than to cut the top.
2) The 50thAE (love that color combo) only comes in the Coupe or Vert.

I'm just a newbie so what the heck do I know. I bought an 02 vert this week. I knew what ever I bought it had to have an automatic trans. That made my decison pretty easy.

My biggest fear with the vert is someone cutting the top.
