Lug nuts
Are the lug nuts on a 2004 C 5 plastic caps or are they real chrome lug nuts?

I believe they are stainless steel nuts (not chrome, and not caps).

You can get a lugnut socket with hard plastic insert that won't mar the nuts from MidAmerica ($30...ugh)

Mine is an '02 and has the stainless steel lug nuts. They are actually stainless steel covers over lug nuts. You have to be careful not to use impact guns on them. They make a mess of the lug nuts.

Sometime during the latter part of the 2002 model year, GM changed from the plastic caps to the real lug nuts. My '03 came from the factory with them.

GM also did away with the lug nut lock with this change.

Harbour Freight sells a set of three in a nice plastic case for around 15.00 (3 different sizes)
