Default loweting my c5

ok, ive read the "how-to" guides on how to lower my c5 by cutting the bushings and adjusting the nuts. im wondering if there are any downsides to this (other that need to get it aligned and lowered ground clearance)? any input?

Though I REALLY like the lowered look, I am already hitting way too many things (sticks, limbs and not to mention driveways) so I think will keep her raised as she is !

The only downside I've heard of is having to be more careful pulling in parking lots and such, and maybe a little harsher ride. The upside is they do look better and have a lower center of gravity which gives you better handling.

I'm lowered on just the stock bolts and the biggest problem I have is road kill, always have to be alert because even some of the smallest varmits out there will get you!

I just lowered mine on stock bolts - it was easy - the front required using a jack on the center of the leaf with a little bit of pressure just to relieve some resistance on the front bolts (I did not even have to take the front tires off).

I drve it around after lowering it - I really did not notice a huge difference in ride, but I do have to adjust 1 exhaust bolt that hits on the driveway a little.

The ride on my car may not have really changed that i could tell because I also just put on new non run flat tires.

GO FOR IT - If you hate it, you can reverse it whenever you want - As for the alignment - I may or may not do i9t - I measured it, and it is still very close - but again I also put on wider tires at the same time.

It made the car look a LOT meaner - even just lowered on stock bolts.

In my experience the car rode slightly harsher, but nothing so bad that I regretted having the car lowered. True, the clearance is an issue, but it is at stock height too. An alignment is recommended by most folks - but I would wait a couple of days to allow the suspension time to settle, before taking it in for the alignment.

Personally - I love the way the car looks lowered, and hated the 4x4 off road look. The appearance improvement is significant enough to me that I'm willing to deal with scraping the air dam - I'll replace it when it wears out!

I love the lowered look. I do hit the plastic piece when I pull out of the driveway, but it is meant to bend and I figure sooner or later I will wear it down (though I have heard some guys just cut some of it off).

I left mine on stock bolts and the procedure is very easy.
