An associate of mine is having a problem with his Corvette C5 keyfob it keeps losing sync with the alarm system and he has to take it into the dealer to have it reprogrammed. The dealer simply messes with the dash computer interface and the keyfob is then resync'd to the car. The dealer keeps charging him 35$ every time to do it. Is there a way to do this, himself, I would imagine so.
I searched the forums to no avail, found references to keyfob relearn / programming, etc, yet no instructions.
Any suggestions, comments, instructions would be much appreciated.

Mine lost sync when I took the battery out this weekend... All I had to do was hold the lock and unlock buttons down for 7 seconds while sitting in the car with the doors closed. There will be a beep and it is done.

Thanks for the very prompt response. He stated that he has done that before, however it didn't work, although he claims he didn't do it exactly as you advised. I'll tell him to try it as you advised and see what happens. He also said that he is going to replace the batter in his keyfob as well (its dying apparently), so he is afraid that he will loose sync yet again.
He is also interested in the procedure that they dealer did before; accessing his cars computer (through the in dash interface)and sifting through some menus to do the reprogram. Does this procedure sound familiar, is there a diagnostic mode that one can get into on the Vette?
The procedure should be listed in the owners manual..I just did this a few months ago and a forum member was nice enough to post it for me.. I will see if I can find the thread..it is very simple to do...but it sounds like from your post that it keeps loosing sync so there could be bigger problems..I'll defer to the tech people here to chime in on that.

Thanks again!
I believe if you hold the options button down and press the fuel button 4 times this will bring up the diagnostic menu..you have to have the car off, but key in the "on" position...
the codes that have a "C" next to them are current problems that need attention, the codes that say "H" next to them are history and are no longer a problem.
I am sure SOMONE here will correct me if I have this backward
I bought my Vette used, and the fob hasn't worked since day one. I took it to the local dealership and the told me I had a bad reciever and would cost $500. I'll give the reprogram a try myself, but at this point in time, I can think of a couple of better uses for $500. Seems a bit steep

When you reprogram the key fobs, you have to do all of them at the same time. The system will only respond to the ones you program.
Kinda handy if you happen to lose one. You can do the reprogramming and the lost one will no longer be able to unlock your vette (the key is another story, but you can't always have everything).
