Hi, Im pretty new to the whole corvette scene, well chevy scene all together. There are a few z06s around here that Ive looked at getting, but I cant find one without that torch red/ black interior. I dont like it that much.
So did any z06s come without it? Im looking for 02-04 Quicksilver with a black interior. So did they make them like that or am I going to just deal with it?
Sorry for the newb question, but I couldnt find it under search and figured I should ask. Thanks.
i wish i had your problem when i was looking for my z. i wanted mod red but couldn't find it anywhere. there are plenty of blk interior cars out there. just keep looking.
I have an '02 QS with all black interior (except for the Red Z06 stiching in the headrests). I'm willing to bet most of the QS Z's came with all black interior.
The Torch Red interiors are actually in the minority. Only 30% of the Z06s have this interior if memory serves (that's an educated guess).
Keep looking and I'm sure you'll find what you need. However, as an alternative, it seems there is always someone looking to swap one way or the other.
I held out for a TR with MR interior. I wanted the MR interior precisely because I was overwhelmed by the blackness of every single thing in the cars with the black interiors. It is like sitting in a coal bin. I also think the overwhelming blackness is what causes some to comment on a "cheap" interior. The MR interior makes all the difference. The red and black breaks up things nicely.
in talking with others, i've found that the MR interior is definitely a love it or hate it kind of combo. lucky for me, i'm in the former camp, and it's probably at least 50% of the reason i have my TR/MR Z!!!
i used to have all black interior in my '99 c5, and i liked it very much. with a lot of care (zaino or lexol on the seats), when i sold it this past summer it looked as good--if not better--than when i got the car.
best part: no matter which way you go, it's all good. just be sure to use leather conditioner weekly if it's a daily driver.
Just like Subdiver said the red mod interior is the minority.
If you are looking for a silver with black interior check out Corvettes of Houston, they have on on the floor right now. Ask for Matt

I've been looking a good bit at the numerous Z's available around atlanta because I'm going to buy soon and the majority I've seen are the all black interior
Ive found a 2004 that im going to go look at monday(7th) at a dealership. Quicksilver with black interior. I looked at one today, 2002 Black on Black, I test drove it, came back and the rear differential was leaking (private owner).

Leaking rear diff is very common on the Z06. There are several TSBs out on it and the fix is pretty easy. The 'leaks' generally fall into three main groups:
- blow by out of vent tube on top drivers side of diff due to hot fluid (e.g. not a leak)
- excess fill and leaking out the fill plug (seems like you couldn't do this but it happens to me often. I had to the fill plug, close it, drive the car, the fluid heats and expands and then leaks out the fill plug. Fix is to open the fill plug and suck a little bit out)
- Leaking seals on the drive shafts. TSBs cover this if the car is still under warranty.
