Welcome to the forum and congrats on the car-there should have been a recall if your car falls in the category.take it to the dealership and they will run your vin for free and tell you if there is a recall on the car.should not efect performance at all-it is in the steering wheel not under the hood.hope this helps and for the love of god TURN YOUR CAPS LOCK OFF PLEASE!its like your yelling at me

Welcome to the forum!

1. Here is the Technical Service Bulletin as it pertains to your car relative to the column lock issue....

http://www.corvetteactioncenter.com/....php?qstId=516

2. Regarding the slight tear in the seat - I'd take it to a dealer and have it fixed under warranty if it were me. Don't be afraid of the dealers, sure there are plenty of horror stories out there about moronic, boneheaded treatment - but there are a number of good ones, too. I know that Kerbeck is one of the largest Corvette dealers in the world, but I don't know anything about their service department. I'm sure someone will chime in and give you a name of a good dealer in your area. You might consider going on the regional forum for your area - here's a link.....

http://forums.corvetteforum.com/zeroforum?id=40

Remember - the only stupid question is the one you don't ask! There are lots of folks here who've probably experienced your problem or question and most are thrilled to help out!

One last thing - anytime you see a Corvette out on the road - ya' gotta wave at 'em!

I had the recall done for the column lock and it did not affect my car's performance at all. You should think about getting a column lock bypass and installing it.

As for the leather, go to a reputable upholstery shop and see if they can fix it. Don't think I would want the dealer messing with mine.

Congrats on the C5.

Can't blame you for being excited. Took mine in for the recall and have had no problem. You need to do a shift skip mod and then you're on your way. Don't forget to wave. Here's on from No. California.

Also, you should turn you Caps Lock off. Typing in all caps is considered as yelling on the Forum. Hope you enjoy your time here.
