Maybe someone can answer the question what is the difference in the red metallic with shale interior different that let's say a car of different color with the 50th aniversary badging. Are the cars that aren't red with the badging different? And do all cars that were made in 2003 have the same badging? I have seen car advertised as 50th aniversary edition that were not the red with shale interior. Anyone that can fill in the blanks with any useful info would be appreciated

The red/shale 50th anniversary cars are the special edition and were made to honor the 50th anniversary of the Corvette in 2003. All other colored cars with the 50th anniversary badging are those that were made in the 50th anniversary year -- 2003.

My MY Vert has 50th badges - this is correct. My car is an anniversary year car - the MAg Red cars are anniversary editions.
Red Pearl Metallic is the DuPont designation for the '03 Anniversary Red. It is not the same a Mag Red. The AE models were all Red Pearl Metallic but all '03 carried the badging to designate that they were all produced during the 50th anniversary year of the Corvette.

Be careful, the 50th anniversary edition cars came in only one color and there were NO Z06's. Only Coupes and Verts

To elaborate on what's already been said...ALL 03's are anniversary cars and all of them have badging. Only cars with the optional 1SC package had the shale interior, the special paint color, the champagne colored wheels and badging. Clear as mud?
Also notice that there is a 50th logo on the side fender that is only on the limited edition AE Red version. Not the rest of the 2003's
On the 50th Edition cars you will also find the 50th logo embroidered on the headrests and floor mats, and on the speedometer too. The wheels are a "Champaigne" color and they were all equiped with the magnetic ride suspension standard. Here's a link to the 50th Registry Option lists for the AE model: http://www.50thregistry.com/pricing.html
Because all Corvettes produced in 2003 had the front and rear silver 50th badging, many dealers mistakenly (they wouldn't do it intentionally, would thay?) advertise a non-AE as a "rare" anniversary edition model. In reality the non-AE red 2003 vettes are indeed rarer than the AE models which made up 11,632 of the 33,000 vettes sold that year, making the AE red the most comon color in 2003.
It was the color of the car that literally took my breath away. I was stunned and still admire my car for its color. I also like that it came loaded with two tops. The shale interior also happens to be one of my favorite interiors so I am in Corvette heaven!
I like them too. I don't care if my color isn't that rare anymore, I bought the 50th AE because I liked it not because I thought it would appreciate in value. I'm glad there are so many ... it will make it easier to get parts down the road!
haha .. so my black is rarer than the AE color. that's a hoot.
White was rarer. In fact, I completely baffled saleslady at Bill Heard in Nashville last year. They had a sign on an anniversary edition that stated rare '03 Anniversary Edition. I informed her that my white '03 was even harder to find, since only 2 percent of Vette sales in '03 were white. She was so confused, and didn't know what to say, that I would bet she is selling Fords now.
On other thing, in '03, I was behind an actual anniversary edition Fixed Roof Coupe on the St. Jude's caravan outside of Memphis. Beautiful car, had a few of us confused as hell. Fellow took an anniversary convertible, and actually installed a fixed roof, as well as I believe a supercharger (under the hood).

That's Runamuk, and he's famous over at the 50thregistry.com with his "Z06-like" anniversary edition vette!
If you own a 50th AE be sure to register it in the 50th Registry and have some fun in the CF sister forum too...www.50thregisty.com
