It seems to me that the verts are a few thousand more than the coupes and FRC's. I don't know why, but either way it's killing the pocket book. I wanted to know the chances of me finding a '99-00 vert, 6 speed, HUD, and under $25k with decent miles for the years produced. I mean... is that asking to much? COME ON!

this may help
i bought a 98 vert with 32 k and 6spd
dual pwer seats dual AC
base suspension
paid 26 k
it had ugly wagon wheels which are gone now and was otherwise stock
i might have been able to get it for 25k
but i got the color combo i wanted and they didnt rape me on my trade
this was in june during prime vette time
in the winter months i would think you can buy the same car for 24k
but then again now that the incentives on leftover 04s are gone you might be paying the same i paid

Doubtful to find a good one for that amount. I put my 2000 Vert for sale locally (triple black, just about loaded, 6 spd) for $29k with just at 30k miles. I may wind up trading it in, the trade in on the car is above what you're wanting to pay so unless you find someone just wanting to sell the car cheap for some reason you might have to wait a while.

You may not get a really good example of one for under $25K, but a decent one may be had with a few miles on it for that. Shop around - they are out there.
Just bought ours for $21.1k with 72k on the clock and in pristine condition. The only issue is that the top is out of alignment, and the driver's side window catches it when you close. However, I went to the vetteguru website and found the "how to" on how to fix it and correct the problem.
The car is otherwise immaculate, no dings or scratches to speak of, interior is perfect. The only other problem was a burnt out foglamp and turn signal.
We got a helluva deal, because the car still runs like a champ, and looks brand new (aside from wagon wheels ) but we also have a set of chrome Z06 rims ready to go on!

you paid right around what you should have
milage on these cars is what drives the price down not so much year of the car
70k is when alot of people start to think its too many miles
personally i went with one with 30k on it because thats what i found locally with the options i wanted but i wouldnt be afraid of something with 70k on it
these motors are tough and can take the milage but that doesnt mean people will still pay

I bought a 99 pewter, 6 spd, every available option offered, 31k miles, magnesium wheels, very clean, $26,700. Plus, in AZ there is no sales tax through a private party, so I feel like I bought it for $24,600! I am very happy!
May get some flak here but it's the fun factor you are paying for!!
Never owned a convertable in my life untill a few months ago, now can't imagine driving a vett with a fixed roof As good or better than riding on a harley
I looked for months locally for a 98-99 6 speed Convertible with no luck for about $28K. Finally found a super clean ,all options,16K miles car in Lansing for 27,500 and jumped on it. The prices are all over the ballpark for those years and when you see a good deal it won't be around long.
Low miles are a big factor in the price.

Yes, I agree.... hold out for your price if you can. I had a coupe C4 and got the Vert C5 because it looks so sweet with the top down. Never thought I would use the top that much, but I would say it's RARELY up! As far a options go, since you're already here on the forum you can pretty much find any options part here in the Parts section and upgrade your car yourself.
Oh, don't want to get off topic, but I went to Bike Week in Daytona in the car more than I did on the bike - and had more fun (with the A/C kicking!)
Keep looking they are out there in your price range. Bought my 98Vert with 25,000 on the clock for $24,000 September 2003. Seller was asking $28,000. From our conversation car sounded nice and he wanted to sell, but had just lowered price from 30k,[ remember this was 18 months ago.]
I went to the bank and withdrew $25,000 in hundred dollar bills, after I'd checked it out and test drove and we sat down to negotiate I said here is what I'm willing to pay for it and counted out 24 stacks of bills like this "one thousand, two thousand, etc." He never saw the other $1000.00. I knew what I wanted to pay for it and I was willing to walk.
It's sometimes hard to part with your toy, if he's not seriously motivated you need to help him, or her! NOW is the time to buy "top down" weather is almost here.
the stealorship down the street just sold a 2000 triple black vert with 40k miles for $25,500
I'd say that is a pretty good price.
I paid 25K for my '98 with 39K miles. Though it was technically a couple of grand more than what I should have paid for according to the industry books, in the real world, I didn't find another... and trust me, I looked. It wasn't just mileage for me, I was looking for a mint condition, no paint car.
For model years '99 and '00 the base price of the vert was just over $6400 more than the base price of the coupe. Best of luck to you in finding the right new ride at the right price.
