Hi, I was wondering if anyone has put it the bronze headlight motor gear in, and how difficult it is to put in. I don't really want to take it to the dealer if at all possable. Thanks, Bud
It's not too hard if you have the right tools, namely a couple of 10mm ratcheting wrenches. I recently installed the Euro headlights and high-wattage lamps from www.pfyc.com, and followed these instructions to take the headlights off: http://www.c5forum.com/diy/eurolights2.php . I used painter's tape around the body to prevent scratches.
Once you get the headlight housings off, it's easy to unbolt just the motor from the headlight assembly and door. I replaced the gears in mine without even unplugging the harness. My coupe is a 2002, so the motor covers are glued on; I forget which earlier years have screwed on covers. I had a little trouble prying one of them open, but with just a little dremeling to get a gap started, it was easy. I didn't use the supplied epoxy in the kit, I used JB weld, which is probably overkill.
